Jay had always looked at the board with Jake being the bigger piece in it. But lately, doubts started surfacing in his mind. After Jake's words in his 16th birthday, he's starting to be uncertain whether, he, himself, plays a bigger part in this whole mess.
If he does, why did he do this to himself?
Jay knows himself, he's sure. He will never use that kind of magic, he already suffered all his life, why triple it, if he doesn't want to? It doesn't make sense.
Jake must be confusing him to get him off track, just like the kiss.
Jay shouldn't waver and believe him so easily. He's Jake Shim for fuck sake, he isn't trustworthy, if anything he had always hindered Jay's path toward salvation.
However, the way Jake spoke that night, it felt real. It convinced Jay, even though he doesn't want to admit it.
Jake kept saying things about the past, but how come Jay doesn't recall what he's talking about? As if there's a missing piece in between that connects everything up to this point. Surely Jake spoke half the truth that night, perhaps Jay was correct about his hunch: something is at sake, which prevents Jake from spilling everything. The death of his loved one, Siwon? Maybe.
This became infuriating.
Jay is,of course, furious, he's annoyed at how Jake Shim gave him a riddle not an answer.
Since Jay already threw a tantrum last time, today is the day he shall answer the riddle Jake has thrown.
It wasn't hard to decipher, really. The way Jake kept reminiscing their 'past' and how there's an obvious gap whenever they talk. It's easy to determine the missing variable in the equation.
In this case, what he needs right now is not reputation or anything. He needs Park Sunghoon. If anyone has a connection to a memory magic user, it would be the prince.
Not only they are in a different building, but only a few people are practicing that kind of magic, due to it being almost powerful, only three factions could do such magic.
"Why? Did you forget where you placed your pen?"
"No" Truly, the prince doesn't seem to have poise whenever he speaks.
"Oh? A book?"
It isn't his business, however, Jongseong gets the prince's curiosity in this matter. Asking for a memory magic user isn't a normal request afterall.
"I lost an important memory" Which is the truth, he wished for Sunghoon to grant his request
"A childhood memory?"
Well, it falls in the same category "Yes"
A long hum from the prince, it's a serious matter. So, for him to think about it this long, it's justified.
"How important is it?"
"It could determine my current standings in the family tree, I think my parents are hiding something from me" Jay silently hopes Sunghoon was convinced by his lie, he literally has no idea how to contact a memory magic user, he never needed them back then. Though they are powerful, their power wasn't needed in the revolution. So, even if he acquainted one, they would be deemed as dead weight for Jay.
"I'll arrange something" Sunghoon said, but in a flick of an eye, his lips curved into a smirk "However, you must know I'm pulling a string or two to do this. So, Jongseong, pay me back in the future" He tapped Jay's shoulder and then stood up.
The prince left the room, leaving Jay alone in the break room.
With that, Jay knew he has to return the favor someday. And knowing Park Sunghoon, he might try to out weight his request. But not that Sunghoon knows the faith of their world is gonna be based on the memory he's going to unveil. So, Jay couldn't careless if Sunghoon makes him do anything. As long as he could stop Jake from leaving this timeline, escape his current life and peacefully move somewhere far. It will be worth it.
