Yeah, you heard her right. I was dying in a couple of months. I have cancer.
I'm strong and I know it, and I've been fighting it for long, just like that.
I gave a deep sigh as I banged my head lightly on the desk.As I got downstairs to the dining room, everyone had gathered round the table and I was late. I could see the disappointed look on dad's face. Seemed like he cared less about me ever since I was diagnosed with lung cancer four and a half years ago.
I know, a kid with lung cancer.......
Its hereditary, somehow, it managed to miss my dad and came for me."You were up there writing, weren't you?" he asked as I made my way to sit.
"No dad, I was busy with some school work" I casually replied.
"Its very easy for you to lie, isn't it?" he asked as he instantly continued:
"I'm not gonna have you writing in my house okay?"
"How come Jack can go on playing basketball and I can't write?" I asked in anger.Well, in my house, the only thing that mattered was academics, being successful and growing to be successful like that.
Every time, dad raises the barriers up.
Make life a living hell for me like it was a crime writing."If you wanna focus on art, sweetheart, grow up and be a lawyer...." he said to me.
I stared at him in surprise, I was gonna be dead in less than a year anyways. How did it sound?
"I can't believe you right now dad" I let out almost in tears.
"You can't waste your time on such trivia things. You're bigger than all of that" he said in a soothing manner.I didn't have tears in my eyes cause I've heard them naysayers say worst than this.
I cried when it all started, but I realized if they don't hate on my work, then, its going nowhere. My legacy goes nowhere.
