CLEAN
NO SMUT IN THIS ONE SORRY
HAVE A LITTLE ROMANCEFor an instant, Dean saw him again. Tall, broad shoulders, cloaked in the same old trench coat. Castiel smiled at him, with those plump lips that Dean loved so much. Dean felt his heart racing in his chest.
"Merry Christmas!" Dean jumped and turned away from the window toward the voice.
"We're going to be late for the Christmas party. Why aren't you dressed? Do you need help choosing something?" Sam questioned entering the guest bedroom without invitation.
Dean had been staying with Sam and Eileen for the Christmas holidays. But to be quite honest he was sick of the sight of anything festive.
The younger brother instantly began rummaging through Dean's duffle bag, pulling out all of his clothing. "Sam I'm forty three years old. Do I look like I need help?" Dean snapped, shooting him a glare.
"I'm just trying to help you. We have to leave in fifteen minutes. I know you don't want to go, but Charlie has put a lot of effort into this party. Try and smile some, yeah?" Sam gave a sympathetic smile. One that Dean had seen far too often. So often that it seemed fake now.
"Whatever" the older Winchester grumbled. His eyes drifted back to the window. He peered out of the frosty glass. His angel had gone again. He never stayed long enough.
Dean rubbed his face with his palms and sighed. He guessed he would have to get ready for the stupid party. Sam would only be back in here in ten minutes to nag him again.
It didn't take long for Dean to choose an outfit. He went for his famous look. An old flannel shirt, jeans, and boots. "I like that colour on you Dean" hushed a faint whisper. A whisper that only seemed to be getting further away, as time went on. Dean's eyes squeezed shut at the sound.
But it was just memories replaying in his head. It wasn't real. It would never be real again.
...
"Are you going to help?" Sam groaned, attempting to carry several crates of beer on his own. Dean glanced over at his brother, and shook his head. He took one of the crates, and walked toward the house.
Dean felt as though he was walking into Santa's workshop. The whole front yard was filled with Christmas decorations. Lights, snowmen, even a waving Santa by the front door. It made him sick to his stomach. It was not the 'most wonderful time of the year.'
"Dean!" The front door flung open, before he could even reach the porch steps. Charlie ran out excitedly. She was wearing a green elf costume. It had pointy ears, and everything.
"Hey Char. I better get these inside before my arms drop off. Why don't you see if Sammy needs a hand huh?" Dean half smiled. He tried to seem as cheerful as he could, not wanting to disappoint her.
Once inside his nose was filled with the sweet scent of cinnamon apple. The house looked amazing. Charlie had really gone to town on the decorations. It was truly magical.
For a second Dean almost felt the Christmas spirit.
Almost.
Dean placed the crate of beer down in the kitchen, and followed the sound of Christmas music and voices. Charlie's living room was filled with some of their family and friends.
The hunter scanned the room. Bobby and Rufus were sat by the fireplace. Bobby looked up giving Dean a nod and a smile. Jody, Donna, and the girls were laughing away in the corner. Garth, and his family were playing twister on the floor. Rowena, and Gabriel were getting a little too close on the couch.
