After Eli woke up in the basement and went to school like any usual day except with the amulet in his bag and knowledge that he assumed no one else had. That was his first mistake. Unfortunately.

————————————————————————

It was around lunch period and Jim was sitting with Toby like he usually did. In the corner of the cafeteria Eli sat looking at something in his bag. Probably his phone. Although now that Jim thought about it something was definitely different-

"Jimbo" Toby interrupted. "Hey, Jimbo you there?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine." He was in fact not 'fine'. "Just distracted, that's all."

"You better not be staring at Claire again." Toby said sarcastically.

"No, definitely not."  Jim said, still half paying attention. He was too worried about preventing the end of the world to be bothered by romance.

"Mhmm, definitely not." Toby said, still sarcastic.

————————————————————————

Eli didn't know what to do. He was sitting in the corner of the cafeteria alone, as usual, just staring at the amulet. It was truly fascinating in every aspect, the brilliant blue of the gem inside and the intricate details of the silver.

He couldn't just keep all this information to himself. But who could he tell? Nobody really talked to him anyways. Well nobody but Jim... JIM! That's who he could tell. So right then and there he decided that he would tell Jim what's going on.

————————————————————————

Jim and Toby were walking towards the bike racks when Eli came running out of nowhere "Jim, Jim, I have to tell you something!" Which visibly confused the two boys.

After a few seconds Jim responded hesitantly with "Okay?"

And Jim being the nice person he is, said "hey tobes why don't you bike home on your own tonight, I think Eli wants to show me something." And with that Toby left looking a little disappointed.

Jim turned around and looked at Eli "what is it?"

"Uhmm... so I know you barely know me but you're the only one who's nice to me so.."

"So, what?"

"I found this thing in the canals.."

Jim couldn't believe his luck. "Ok, can you show me?" And just as he thought Eli pulled out the amulet of daylight. Trying to sound surprised he asked "Does it do anything?"

Eli responded with "No, not that I'm aware of" which kinda disappointed Jim.

Jim grabbed some paper out of his bag and wrote his number on it "here, let me know if it does something. I know how hard it is to keep a secret" he said, still smiling.

And then Jim walked away.

————————————————————————

Later that night Eli was sitting on the couch examining the amulet. He noticed the engravings on the side were changing and shifting. He went outside to the backyard  and continued examining the amulet. The engravings had changed to English somehow.

"For the glory of Merlin..." he read, squinting "..daylight is mine to command?" And then he felt his feet lift of the ground as the giant silver armor that the troll in the canals was wearing appeared. "Oh my g-" he couldn't even finish his sentence as the armor sized itself to his body with the amulet embedded in the chestplate.
