In 17th century,punjab was ruled by the mughal empire. They were not the governers they were butchers of humanity,who were converting people,imposing unnecessary taxes on people looting them,disrespecting women's dignity. There was only one guru who wanted to fight with injustice of these people.
That guru was "guru gobind singh ji"guru of khalsa panth started to fight mainly for injustice.
On 1699 A.D guru gobind singh ji, created khalsa panth by giving amrit to 5 beloved sikhs. Khalsa was formed to protect dharma(relegion) and to fight injustice, forceful conversions,unlawful activities.
At this time lot of the indian subcontinent was ruled by mughals, aurangzeb was ruler of delhi at this time.
A lot of people were being converted by mughals and the ones who don't want to convert were sentenced to death.
Guru ji, wanted terror free punjab and wazir cannot bear it. Guru ji was saint and a warrior too when needed.he fought for the oppressed.
Guru ji fought all total of 14 battles half of these battles were fought between hill kings of india and guru ji, due to the reason that hill kings also joined mughal kings for their own propaganda.
Now wazir was loosing battles and its becoming hindrance in conversion.
He had an agreement with the guru that, if the guru leave anandpur fort,then he will not attack them...but he decieved and attacked them on back with million of troops.
he attacked guru ji fort in anandpur,punjab. Guru ji had to leave anandpur fort along with his whole family.
Now the mughals were after guru ji and their family they attacked them at the banks of river sirsa and all the family got scattered 2 elder sons of guru ji were with him.... and 2 younger ones were with grandmother mata gujjar kaur ji .
Due to the force of sirsa, river people were drowned in it,and everybody separated from each other.
Guru ji went to chamkaur along with his elder sons and some other sikhs.
2 little sahibzade and grandmother went to other side, along with gangu a servant.
Sahibzade mother mata sundri ji went to delhi with some other sikhs.
Now suba-sirhind wazir attacked guru sahib in chamkaur fort also, when they were only 42 whereas mughals and some other rajput forces combined were approx 2 million.
Hard to believe this was the irony 2 million in front of 42 sikhs.
