Warning: This chapter switches POV's A LOT more than usual because so many different things are happening! Sorry!
Liam's POV
I knew Alice would be showing up in the next few minutes, and I assume she'd like her privacy with Louis. I remember back when she was pregnant with Clark, she would get so frustrated with Harry and throw things at him, but she would have a soft spot for Louis. It didn't matter how angry she was, the second Lou walked in the room, she was all smiles and hugs. He's the reason Harry survived those nine months, so the two had gotten pretty close before everything fell apart. I had a sad smile on my face at the memory as I stood up to leave Louis' room, giving him one last glance.
As part of security, I was allowed to walk around behind the scenes as long as I was accompanied by a security guard. This way I could stay out of the hall ways and not be recognized. I was walking towards the exit behind the emergency room as I walked by the door opening up to the waiting room. I didn't spare a glance through the doorway, but someone else clearly had and saw me there.
"Liam!" the voice yelled.
Braden's POV
I had been sitting in the waiting room for about ten minutes, but I hadn't seen any sign of Harry after I followed him in. It was like he just disappeared, and I'm not entirely sure what to do next. I decided to go to the desk and try to get access to Louis, seeing as that's where Harry must be if he isn't here. I walked up with a smile, hoping to charm my way through, but the nurse was rather grumpy.
"Excuse me miss, could I by any chance go back and see my friend? He's been admitted here in a coma and I'd very much like to visit him." I said as sweetly as possible.
"What's your friend's name?" she asked without looking up from her computer.
"Louis Tomlinson," I answered her. She looked up at me incredulously over the rim of her glasses.
"I'm sorry sir, but I've been told not to allow anyone back to see him without the proper security, which you don't seem to have," she said, looking back to her computer screen. Well shit, how did Harry get back there? But the better question is, how do I get back there? As if heaven had heard me, Liam Payne walked past the doorway behind the desk, clearly leaving. This was my opportunity.
"Liam!" I yelled over to him, catching him off guard. He looked over at me, unsure of what to expect, but calmed considerably when he recognized me.
"Hey Braden, what are you doing here?" he asked politely, but it was clear he's exhausted.
"I was hoping to get back and see Louis, but it seems I don't meet the necessary requirements," I told him honestly, giving him a sheepish smile. Liam turned and nodded to his security guard, before turning to the nurse.
"It's okay Debra, I was just heading out and John here can escort Braden back. He's a friend," he said with a smile to the nurse I had been speaking to. She nodded and allowed me through to the back, where I shook Liam's hand as he left. I then followed the guard back, thinking of a plan to get him away from the door.
"You know, I'll be in here for awhile. Why don't you go get a coffee or something? I promise not to leave until you get back. I'm a little more responsible than these kids running around," I said with a bit of humor. He hesitated for a second, but agreed, probably taking note of my age, seeing as I had a good ten years on most of Louis' visitors, and could therefore follow the rules.
