"Ugh, Wukong. Can you please stop shaking that tree, you're getting the petals into my hair!" yelled a feminine voice.

"Oh, come on peaches! You know you look great in these pink petals." Said a smirking sage lying on one of the tree branches.

The young priestess sighed and stood up holding the basket of peaches, "Aren't you supposed to be protecting your Buddhist monk Tripitaka." she said as she started walking away from the male.

The great sage let out an irritated sigh and jumped down from the tree landing beside her while stealing a peach from her basket with his tail, "I think you mean my master Tang Sanzang." he said taking a bite out of his stolen peach.

The young priestess can remember when they first dropped into their all-women village,  the simian did look friendly but had a menacing aura around him, the monk seemed nice and respectful, Sha Wujing looked friendly as well, and their horse was so beautiful and elegant, and as for Zhu Bajie a pig demon who is greedy and just downright disgusting to her when he tried to woo her.

But the young (s/c) priestess couldn't help but feel comfortable around the sage before he thought she was a demon in disguise. She knows he's strong and that's why he's one of the monk's disciples, "Well, all great sage equal to heaven. After, I deliver these peaches to the cooks I am going out to the archery fields to practice my arrow shooting skills."

He looked at her with his red eyes in question, "So what? You don't wanna learn how to use a staff or a spear? Why didn't you choose to be a warrior?"

Here they go again.

"Because, Wukong, I was chosen to be a Priestess since birth to exorcise any demons that may come into our village and cause harm. I can not change my fate," she said in a strong tone.

Wukong stopped in his tracks and wrapped his tail around the middle of the young priestess's waist, pulling her back towards him gently, "I'm tired of hearin' fate this and fate that. Don't you ever think about what you want? Has any woman in the village asked you want you wanted? What do you want to do? Who do you want to become?"

The young woman looked at him in surprise, she never heard this kind of speech come out of his mouth, she was expecting him to complain but this was different from him. The way his red eyes stared into her (e/c) eyes made her feel different like he believed in her.

"....Wukong..."

The Simian felt heat rise to his face and he let his tail let go of her and gently nudged her ahead, "C'mon, we can talk more later once you've delivered these fruits, peaches."

He didn't always call her peaches but since on the second week of spending time with one another, he was starting to give her that nickname. She didn't mind it of course but every time she sees him or even speaks to him, he acts kinda differently in a way.

But thinking back on his words, is this what she really wanted?

Are the celestial gods watching her?

Is this a test from the great Buddha himself?

If it is, then....could she be more than a priestess...?

A warrior even?

Unknown to the young priestess, the demon slayer and reckless sage were looking at her with an all too-knowing look in their eyes. He smirked when he saw something change in her expression, he knows what was gonna happen as long as he was here.

This village girl sure is piquing his interest.
