It Feels Like We're Living In A Dream... Or Something

Sayaka opened her eyes as her alarm clock went off, stretched, then got dressed. Like always, she was just a little groggy upon waking, but able to get over it easily. Lately it seemed as if no matter how little sleep she got, she'd still be just as awake in the morning. She had only gotten two hours of sleep last night after staying up listening to music, but she felt the exact same way she did when she got 8, or even 10 hours.

Like always, she grabbed a pillow, went into the guest room, and threw it at the person sleeping through the alarm clock in there. Kyoko slowly sat up, annoyed.

"It's WAY too early for school. Can't we skip today?"

"Come on." Sayaka said, dragging her out of bed. "Or you won't have time for breakfast."

"Oh fine!" Kyoko said, getting up and started to walk out.

"Get changed first." Sayaka said. "I'll be downstairs."

Kyoko sighed, rolling her eyes. "This school stuff is way more work than it's worth."

Sayaka walked downstairs, a weird sensation in her stomach. She and Kyoko had that EXACT conversation yesterday. To the word. But how? Sayaka hadn't even done that on purpose...

Breakfast, too, seemed to go the same as yesterday. It was somewhat hard to remember, but she was pretty sure her parents had said the same things yesterday, and even the smallest detail of the third piece of french toast Sayaka ate being the only burnt one felt familiar somehow.

Still, without mentioning this to anyone, Sayaka and Kyoko walked to school like normal, having another familiar conversation. Looking up at the cloudless sky, Sayaka changed the script a little bit.

"Hey Kyoko, do you remember the last time it rained?"

"Hmm?" Kyoko looked up at the sky. "Guess not."

"It gets cloudy during lunchtime, right? Making it easier to eat outside, but then it gets sunny again right afterwards."

"Yeah... what's your point?"

"When was the last time the weather has been unpredictable?"

Kyoko looked up at the sky again. "I dunno, Sayaka, but does it really matter? It means it never rains on us at a bad time, and it's never too bright at lunch."

"It's also never too cold or too hot. It's always perfect."

"Okay, so it's really good weather. I don't see a problem." Kyoko said, shrugging.

"Ugh, nevermind." Sayaka sped up a little bit to walk in front of Kyoko rather than beside her.

When the two arrived at school, Sayaka saw the strange new kids grouping up as they always did. Apparently the school they were from got budget cuts and they had to transfer here, or so Sayaka had heard. But she also heard rumors that they all used to go here and were just on a leave of absence? Or that they've all just moved to Mitakihara all at once? These girls were all mysterious, and they didn't really talk to others much. They just stuck to themselves, whispering. And every one of them was strange.

One of them was in Sayaka's class, but for some reason she was allowed to wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. Everyone assumed she was just sensitive to light, but no one really knew for sure. She was quiet and shy, and seemed to always be running away from Sayaka every chance she got.

Sayaka stared at the group of outcasts, and they all stopped whispering to each other to stare at her.

"What?" Sayaka asked, suddenly getting angry. "What are you staring at?"
