Out of all the places I could've been, I was on a yacht. I tugged on my bikini strap, shifting uncomfortably in the lounge chair. Immense regret washed over me for not putting on my one piece and to have no embarrassment to jump into the water.
"I can't believe you're moving to Malibu of all places." Regina took off her shades and looked at me. Or perhaps stared is the right word.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I allowed my towel to drop down a bit as I sat up. She shrugged. "It's just not your cup of tea."
We were on my father's yacht, laying down on my father's lounge chair, drinking my father's shots, yet somehow Regina still found a way to tell me how to live.
I rolled my eyes, and was glad she couldn't see under my sunglasses.
"What is this anyways?" I asked, looking around. Regina's other friends, about one billion of them, were laughing in the obnoxiously high pitched sound at something on their phones. Regina's boyfriend and his frat group were taking turns diving off into the ocean. The only person who was even considerably someone I wanted here was my boyfriend, Steven, who was playing cards with Regina's sister, Amber.
"A end of year slash going away party for you." Regina smiled at me smugly.
"And yet none of these guests are ones I want here except for my boyfriend?" I shot back, raising an eyebrow.
"They're just here to spice things up abit. Besides, Maddie, it's not like you have lots of friends." She winked at me.
"Gee thanks."
"Of course." She said, knowing perfectly well my words were sarcastic.
"And we had to use my dad's yacht for this?" I motioned around the deck.
"Yes," She said pointedly, "I told you, Daddy's yacht is getting renovated. We're adding another jacuzzi and a sauna. It should be done in two months." I didn't have the slightest idea what the difference of a yacht would be with two jacuzzis and a sauna, but I guess that's what Regina's use to: the spoiled brat treatment.
"Fantastic," I said, and she turned back to sunbathing. I laid back down and pretended to enjoy the hot sun burning my body.
"Hey! Regina!" Oscar yelled, "Wanna come swim with us?"
Regina nodded excitedly, then hobbled off the lounge chair and skipped over to them. Oh great, I was being left out on my own yacht.
