"Daisy..?" A strangely familiar voice yelps out to me in defeat. Though, I can't quite get a grasp of where it came from. She sounded relatively like.... CATHERINE! My dearest sister. Encountering her before, this should come as no surprise to me. But, she told me herself her soul wouldn't follow me here. "Cult. It's coming. Stay away" Those alarming words put my helpless mind in shock. Catherine disappeared into the ground, as all spirits do. They never stick around long enough for a real conversation.
Later that night, my mind was rushing with cold thoughts. Flashbacks from that night. It's all happening over and over again. The stab punctures, her lifeless eyes, the tears streaming down my mother's face. Everything from that night comes back to me within a matter of seconds. I'm not sure why he did it. He was never abusive or an aggressive individual. I hate my father. Why would he kill Catherine. Why. Why. Why.
Gasping for air, I turn my head onto my pillow full of sweat. This mind baffling nightmare happens 3 times a week. Always. I can never get away from my father's inhospitable look on his face. Why would he do that.
I turned my head shockingly, to see the warm smile of Ashley Campbell greet me at my bedroom door. "Ash what are you doing here its like 8am?" "Daisy, for one its 3pm and for 2 I am here because I was hanging out with the boys earlier, but they get boring sometimes. All the ghost this, ghost that, anyways, why don't we have some girl time?" Her kind words made my lips curl upwards turning the gloomy frown on my face, to a content smile.
The kind Ashley took me to Lake Wendigo as we chatted about the mysterious Nockfell. "How do you like it here Daisy?" From the tone of her voice I could tell that it sounded genuine. "It's alright, glad to get away from the whole dad situation." Then of course I had to explain to her what happened. Shockingly, this was no suprise to Ash, since "bad things happen in Nockfell."
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" Ash screams her lungs out, it feels like she could break the sky. "What the hell are you doing Ash?" "Screaming my feelings out, please try, it will help!!" I do as she says. Suddenly, a stream of tears roll down my face. "You remind me of my sister, Ashley." Ash glances back at me with her glistening eyes locking to mine. Silence fills the air.
As the sun arose the next morning, I practically leaped down to the basement. My stomach, craving chocolate for some reason. I pulled a quarter out of my pocket, and that's when I noticed a green-haired fella out of the corner of my eye. "I'll trade you a mystery key for that quarter!" Chug exclaims, in a cheerful tone. "Fine." I groan, only because my curiosity got the best of me.
My legs produced wind with the amount of speed, eagerly getting Todd. He is such a nerd so I know he will help me discover where this key leads to. "Oh hi Daisy! I am working on a new investigation for a theory that involves.." I kind of spaced out on what he said there. My little brain can't handle this guy. "Todd I need you to help me with this key!"
Todd and I traveled back down to the basement, where the key came from. My lungs were filled with dust from the old boards. Something arose within me. This feeling I needed to go somewhere instantly, but it wasn't my soul controlling me. Someone was guiding me. Whatever was guiding me, it led us to a torn carpet. My hands became dirty while lifting up the moist smelling rug. A trap door score!
Holy. Fucking. Shit. A giant temple greets me below the surface of the place I call my home. The walls are covered in symbols like some kind of cult. Cult... wait. My dad? No.
