It was cold, everything was frozen, A winter, the winter that's been for years, taking everything in sight, nothing but a harsh white wasteland covering everything—barely anything in sight. The land was quite apart from the roaring winds and snow. Many towns were frozen solid and abandoned, with no one in sight other than a set of small footprints from a woman. She was shaking under her cloak, the lack of shoes covering her feet did not help either. For days she has been looking for anything to help her friends and family through this winter but it was nothing but snow and frost, throughout villages and flatlands absolutely nothing was found.
I'm so tired, so hungry, I'm in such pain, I have to rest, I don't think I could go on, Ambrosine thought. Without any hesitation or strength, she falls to her knees and in tears. All she felt was numb, absolutely nothing. For hours The rough wind rushed past her collecting the snow and laying it on top of where she lay for hours freezing to death. Then all of a sudden all of it stopped. The snow stopped falling like rain and the wind stopped racing past, With the very last strength she had Ambrosine stumbled to her feet.
What had happened?, She thought. Continuing on foot through the snow she sees a frozen forest a couple of meters ahead of her.
Hopefully, there is a village or shelter I could find. If not I don't think I could make it, Picking up the pace Ambrosine made it to the edge of the woods, it was dark and stretched to as far as she could see. With one foot in front of the other, she continued into the forest. Tripping over rocks, roots and stones Ambrosine's feet were damaged with scratches and bruises. She huffed an puffed the higher she went farther in while the earth of the land curved up into a hill. Higher and higher up the hill Ambrosine climbed, her cloak now soaked from the dragging on the cold winter ground. Finally, at the top of the hill, Ambrosine took a sigh of relief and turned to face down the hill.
I travelled for so long, I hope everything is alright with the others she sighed I hope I could find anything to live our spirits,
Turning forward to the edge of the cliff what she saw shocked her. Ambrosine scanned the area for once in a long time, and for once in her long and torturous journey, she finally felt peace and happiness. From where she stood, she saw that everything was different, everything from the land, the temperature and the different colours. A warm breeze blew through Ambrosine's hair and through the land.
It has been so long Ambrosine smiled
Evergreen trees were now a great emerald green, a rainbow of flowers blooming throughout the fields. The white-coloured ground was swept away by the vibrant green of the grass.
The long winter is over, Ambrosine thought, a small smile spread on her face, "everything was finally free from the cold, oh how the others would feel about this news," she said out loud. With a great surge of energy, Ambrosine unclips her cloak and throws it off the cliff, finally releasing her large majestic butterfly wings from their restraints. Many things have changed here during this winter her wings once colourful and elegant are now tattered and dull, and her once royal dress was now dirty and ripped, her skin once sunkissed now pail enough to see her veins. Everything about her changed because of the forever winter.
The winter is over,  Ambrosine started to chuckle,  All of our worries are over, and Ambrosine celebrated with a gigantic smile on her face. I have to tell everyone of this news, we can finally rest easy now.  Ambrosine with enthusiasm took a couple of steps before running and jumping off the cliff. She plummeted and plummeted closer to the ground, with a couple of feet left between her and the ground her wings opened for once in many years. The wind getting caught under her wings lifted her up to the sky. Higher and higher into the clouds she went, swooping down and twirling around in the air, Ambrosine felt safe, secure.
Everything will be alright she thought while scanning the land. Over mountains and running rivers, over meadows and lakes, everything was perfect, everything was quiet, everything was peaceful.
Time to head back, I hope everyone is still alright.
