Emiko ended up getting home around 7pm last night due to some delays. The stranger she met yesterday, Hyunbin to be precise, ended up sending her off as she hopped onto her subway.
She found him quite nice and friendly. If only she was in her right state and mind to ask for his socials because who knows when the next time they'll ever meet again.
It wouldn't be strange if the possibility is never.
However, what was strange was the fact Riki ended up arriving home before her.
She remembered walking in and tippy-toeing back to her room after greeting the grown-ups.
Just as she was about to walk past the upstairs bathroom, the door opened almost sending her to shock.
Out came Riki in his plain top and sweats as he dried his hair with a towel with one hand.
"Hi...?" Emiko awkwardly greeted before heading straight to her room.
After that incident, she hasn't seen him since.
Now walking downstairs to grab herself breakfast, she noticed it was full house today.
The couple was sitting on the couch watching television, whilst Riki was standing by the kitchen counter, preparing to cook.
"Oh good morning Emiko." His mother greeted her.
As they all greeted each other, she curiously stood beside Riki to see what he was too. Greeting him like usual, the only thing unusual was the fact he did not reply back.
Maybe he didn't hear... despite being beside her.
"Oh right, Riki. Did you meet with Yuri yesterday?" His father asked.
"Yeah i did. I also gave her the cookies." Riki replied, still ignoring her presence. "She said she will definitely savour them abroad."
"I can't believe she's departing today. Going to college in the states. All grown up already." His mother commented.
Feeling outliered, his mother was quick to remember. Perhaps it was mothers instinct. "Oh Emiko, Yuri was our neighbour that moved away. She was like Riki's older sister. Always tutored him when we first arrived in Korea."
"Ohh i see." She nodded.
Maybe her judgements were wrong from yesterday and she had assumed it was something else.
However, it shouldn't concern her off it was to be what she thought.
Accepting the fact he was not going to acknowledge her for whatever reasons, she was about to walk away when he handed her a piece of sandwich in a rather passive-aggressive manner.
"Thank you." She politely accepted the sandwich thinking he was finally going to talk to her but all he did was walk away with his serving of food.
Whatever the reason why Riki was ignoring her, she had no idea.
She only knew that it felt strange and she did not like it.
