Sydney's POV:
I was sitting in my room crying, because I had just come home from a rough day at school. At school people like to consider me to be an easy bullying target so I get picked on and hurt a lot. No one in my house knows that this happens while I'm there, because I don't want them to freak out. Every time they ask me how school is going; I just look at them and tell them what they want to hear. I'm not fully lying it's going well in my grades and classes are fine, but the people are the problem. I've been in my room crying for hours now. I've started to notice that I've almost gone numb. I have no one to talk to because my best friend moved out of the state, back before school started, and I don't really have any friends. She is my only one, but the time zones are a bit different, so I don't want to be rude and bug her about my problems. I just wish that I had someone here for me, someone I can talk to and bond with, so I'm not always so sad. I start hearing someone yell my name a few times and then shortly after I hear some running towards my door. I quickly wipe the tears away and try to make myself look presentable. My little sister then opens the door and walks in,
"Hey, there's some boy around your age at the front door talking with mom about inviting us over to his house, it's weird but he wants us to meet him and his family since they just moved in across the street. I'm not sure if mom wants to go but I thought I'd let you know. Just in case you wanted to meet the new neighbors and possibly make a friend finally. You know, instead of sulking in here crying all day, the walls are thing remember that."
I look at her all confused because I didn't fully realize that the neighbors across the street moved out, along with new people already moving into the house.
"Yeah, I'll get up and go meet him. Thank you for letting me know."
She then leaves my room, shutting the door behind her. I quickly get up out of my bed and look at myself in my mirror I have near my dresser and fix my hair so is not in such of a messy bun. My outfit is sort of fine, I'm just wearing some black skinny jeans with a band shirt I had just turned into a crop top, the band on the shirt is All Time Low. I start looking for my converse and my dark red hair scrunchy. I put my converse on along with grabbing my scrunchy. I open my bedroom door and shut it behind my while I walk out and down the hall. On my way to the front door, I put my hair in a low ponytail with my scrunchy and I see the boy at my front door. The boy at my front door looks older than I do, I have no clue what my sister was talking about. He looks a little familiar to me, but I just can't seem to put my finger on where I'd seen him before. I reach the door,
"Hello, my name is Sydney."
He looks at me with a big smile.
"Hello, I'm Ashton."
I look at him with widened eyes, I was not expecting him to have an accent. I give him a smile, my mom looks at me then says,
"I'm not going to be able to make it to the dinner you invited us to but maybe she might be able too."
Then she looks at me,
"Yeah, I should be able to make it. I'm not really busy right now."
He then gives me a big smile and looks at my mom,
