Mr. Heartthrob Meets Ms. Nerd

Chapter 2: The Boastful Savior

I woke up from sleep at exactly six in the afternoon. My eyes felt heavy so I went to the bathroom to have some shower.

I dressed and went downstairs with my phone on my hand. When I reached at the dinning area, I can smell those dishes she prepared for our dinner.

I dragged out a chair to have some seat when mother recognized me.

"Ohh, honey. I was about to wake you up.", she said in a humble voice.

"No need, mom. It's alright. ", I said and smiled.

She landed two plates on the place mats. Father had a meeting tonight. He would be probably late for dinner. So we decided to eat first.

I suddenly starved when I smelled the dishes mother cooked. Mom was really good in cooking. It's like she had magic in her hands. All her dishes were my favorite.

"I cooked your favorite lasagna, honey. ", she said as she painted a warm smile on her face.

She sliced a large slice of lasagna and served it on my plate. I excitedly hunched my fork on the dish and swallowed it. Ohh. It's so good!

"This is why I really really love you, mom!", I delightfully said. And that's true.

"Hehe. You're really good at that. I'll wash the dishes later, okay?"

I just nodded.

As soon as we've finished our dinner, mother cleaned the table and washed the dishes. I decided to have some stroll around the village.

"Mom, I'll just be at the lawn, okay?", I informed her.

"Okay, honey."

I walked at door and felt the cool breeze on my face. The sky was a little grayish. It's already evening.

I saw little Ben, our neighbor's son, playing his ball at their lawn. I enjoyed watching him. I took a seat on one of benches and looked at him adoringly.

He throws the ball and it bounced then he gets it then throws it again and so on and so forth.

Then suddenly, his ball rolled and bounced at the village's middle way. It made me stood up from my seat.

Little Ben started to walk to get the ball. There's still vehicles passing! He could be hit on one of those!

I hurriedly ran to little Ben and took him away from where he was standing. I lift him up and downed him at their house's door.

"Stay here, okay?", I said shaking.

Little Ben just nodded.

I waited for the vehicles to pass by and waited when there's no more.

I ran to get the ball. Then, I saw little Ben pointing something at my back. It took me a while before I knew what he was trying to imply.

There was a big truck rushing towards me. The driver was beeping the truck, which signals me to go away.

But, my feet frozed. I can't lift them. Thick sweat poured on my face. My heart was pounding fast like, it would jump out of my chest.

I closed my eyes as I waited for the horrible thing to happen.

But, something made me wonder. The truck was taking too long to hit me. I mean, I don't want to be hit by this huge truck but, I should be thrown away from now. Laying on the ground with pain on my entire body.

Then, something pushed me. Oh. I mean, someone.

I landed on little Ben's lawn and felt a sudden pain on my butt. Ouch.

Something made me shocked. There was Josh opening his arms widely signaling the truck to stop. The truck's brake fortunately work.

But he's still hit on his arm due to the friction.

It made me shocked. Why would he do that? I mean, he really disliked and hates me but, why did he saved me?

Why did Josh Harris saved me?

"You! Can't you move out of the way!?", the driver yelled at him.

He picked up a pebble and threw it to the driver. It hit the driver's head which made him angry and went down on his truck.

Oh no. Josh was now in trouble because of me. Oh no. No, no, no. I should find a way to stop this.

I went between them with my arms widely parted them from each other.

"I'm sorry, sir. It wasn't his fault. It's mine. I'm really really sorry, sir.", I apologized to the driver.

"Yeah. It's her fault. She should be the one beaten.", he said boastfully.

That's what I hate him. He's really proud! Pffft!

"Just... Don't talk, okay!?", I yelled at him.

He replied me a smirk.

"Just get out of my way!", the driver shouted.

I really want to scowl at this stupid driver! I already apologized! Can't he just accept that and make us move out of the way calmly?! Ohh, well. People nowadays.

He climbed up his truck and started the engine. By that, his truck moves slowly and slowly until his truck was not seen in abide.

My eyes landed on Josh. He was standing with his arms crossed and his evil smirk.

"Pffft. You're really a clutz.", he said then smirked.

"Oh, well. All you need is to blow your head off! It's really full of air!", I scowled.

"I accept 'thank you.", he said with his evil smile.

Wow. Why is he really boastful? Can't he just be humble?

"Well, I'm not in a mood for a 'thank you', mister. ", then I snobbed looking away from him.

"You really are pathetic, Xei.".

He calls me by my second name. Oh damn.

"Then, you're boastful. Can't you be humble, Harris?"

Okay. I call him by his last name.

"I have no time for this, Xei. Will you thank me or not?", he said in a boastful tone. As always.

"No. It's just a waste of time.", I replied.

"Well, goodbye, then.", he started yo walk away.

"Why are here, Harris?", I asked with my eyebrow raised.

"It's that your business?"

"Oh, of course not. Forget it! Now, go! Go back to where the hell you belong!", I cursed.

But, he winked, which left me with my mouth opened.

Then, he's now walking away.
