No Ceres' were harmed in the making of this chapter!
"I'm sorry..." Jagur repeated again, on the verge of tears. He felt so disgusting... that even the opportunity to be unfaithful to Ceres had presented itself. He agreed to marry her! He had barely even seen the girl for one night!
He felt Ceres trying to comfort him, rubbing his shoulders with his soft, delicate hands.
"You did the right thing..." Ceres whispered in his ear. "Because of what you did that girl is safe."
Jagur slowed his breathing, and tried to relax into Ceres' hands... but ultimately he just couldn't.
"She won't be Chieftess..." Jagur declared. "She's not a wolf."
"Neither was I." Ceres reminded him. "Maybe she won't be a great warrior... maybe you'll never love her, maybe you'll never even like her... but she's still an innocent. She needs your protection now..."
Jagur shivered. He knew that Ceres was right... it would be nothing but a marriage of convenience, it was politics. The kind of thing that men did... the kind of thing that Jagur always despised.
"You carry so much on your shoulders, my Chief..." Ceres consoled. He pressed a kiss against lips, then one down his chest, then one on his lower abdomen... then another even lower.
"Stop." Jagur commanded.
Ceres didn't.
"I said stop!" Jagur exclaimed, pushing Ceres away.
The boy fell on his back, and Jagur instantly regretted what he had done.
Ceres rose from the floor, he stood in full view, naked. His skin glowing silver with the light of the moon hitting it... he was so indescribably beautiful...
Without another word, Ceres sat down next to Jagur on the bed. "I can't give you children... surely you've thought about this..."
He knew Ceres was right... it was something he didn't like to think about, but it was an inconvenient reality.
"I've served you... I've loved you... and you know that there isn't anything I wouldn't do for you. So if there is something I must do for you now... you need only to ask."
Jagur looked at Ceres shamefully. Never before had he felt so weak. "Lay with me..."
Ceres laid down in the bed beneath the blankets, Jagur wrapped his arms around the boy's tiny body and held him close.
"She may become my wife... she may have my children... but only you will be by my side." Jagur whispered into his mates ear.
"I am yours always." Replied Ceres, "But be kind to her..."
Jagur kissed the back of Ceres' head, and put his face in Ceres' hair. His scent... there was nothing like it. Jagur could never get enough of it. His tail wagged through the sheets. He groaned, finally he stopped thinking about Gerolf's request. Jagur softly rubbed his body against Ceres', and drifted further into sleep.
Jagur hadn't intended to be woken up early that morning but the decision had been taken from him. His first instinct was to be annoyed, but then he saw Ceres thrashing about in the bed beside him, and his irritation turned to horror. His eyes were wide open as he unconsciously kicked and struggled against the air around him, it sounded like he wanted to scream... but at the same time like he couldn't breath.
"Ceres!" Jagur cried out, desperately trying to shake the boy awake, but to no avail.
"Ceres!" Jagur repeated, loud enough to be a shout, and Ceres stood perfectly still.
