haha glad to finally get around to reediting, publishing, and continuing to write this! Started this in my 15 days of sokeefe countdown (be sure to check that out!) but it ended up way too long so I made it its own story. Please, please, leave comments and feedback- it always helps so much! I also love any fic recs for marvel, anime, kotlc, pjo, hp, and most large book series or shows! DM me or leave it on my page and I will get around to writing them :) Hope you enjoy the story!
He woke up with a start, his head pounding, his thoughts swimming about- about what? Wait what? A blonde girl comes to view, and wow she was really pretty. Another guy comes in with tanner skin and dark brown hair, teal eyes that are definitely not normal.
"Are those contacts?" He asked the guy, surprised his mouth asked the question before he could even think it through. The guy stared at him open mouthed. "Don't play funny Keefe," He said, rolling his eyes, seeming to have decided that he was joking.
Keefe, he considered in his head. He guessed that might be his name; a nickname? 'Keefe' let out a strained grin, 'So I don't really remember what happened. Where am I right now?" He asked, trying to sound natural although he had no idea what natural was for him. He just had to play a game of clue for now until he figured out his situation. He could feel his heart pounding, the confusion and panic slowly settling in.
"Stop joking around," the girl said tiredly. She stared at him and he could see it dawn on her that he was in fact not joking (he must be the class clown huh?), and then she started panicking. "How much can you remember? Do you remember drinking Dex's elixir during potions? That stupid dare you decided to do? You hit your head and now you're in the infirmary. Elwin hasn't fully checked you over yet," She said in quick breath, Keefe's brain could barely comprehend all that information.
He must be in a school of magic? Elves. The word popped in his head and it seemed as if puzzle pieces were clicking. They were elves and the school was called- Foxfire. That sounded right.
He sat there pondering, ignoring her worried look as pieces came into his mind of locations and knowledge and it was like all the basic pieces of his mind were restored. But for some reason; he couldn't recognize people. It was like they were all blurry faces in his life. HE couldn't even remember himself; how old was he? What did he look like? How could he remember everything but people? Was this some kind of mind trick?
"Do I.. Do I know you?" He asked hesitantly to the blond girl. She gaped at him.
"This isn't the time to be joking around," she said hesitantly. He gives her a dry laugh.
"Yeah, sorry," He said dryly. She stared at him intensely and he tried to look away, calming his racing heartbeat.
"Yo- you don't remember do you? You don't remember me. You don't remember anything," She concluded, the words coming out of her mouth sounding like she didn't even believe them. She just gave her a glum nod hoping that she wasn't some killer who would take advantage of that fact. Instead she just collapsed to her knees in shock.
"You don't remember," and this time her voice cracked, sorrow filling her voice and on instinct Keefe wanted to be able to comfort her, but he sat there awkwardly as the other boy stood, looking at him in shock seemingly confused by the situation. She turned to the other guy saying in a strained voice "His mind- it's- it's blurred. Everything is there but us. No faces. It's like I'm reaching out and staring at the back of their head,"
"Who are you guys?" Keefe asked once again, trying to ignore the fact that she was describing what his mind felt like. Telepath then? Although technically that was very illegal to look through his head and he opened his mouth to tell her so when he was interrupted.
The guy who looked close to his age spoke up "I'm Fitz Vacker and I'm your best friend. You are Keefe Sencen the resident troublemaker as of age sixteen," he said carefully.
Keefe nodded. His few interactions from now seem to have checked out that fact. He didn't feel sixteen though. He wasn't sure what he felt.
"What about you?" He asked the girl who had seemed to gather herself and was standing back up.
"I'm Sophie Foster, your other best friend I hope," She said carefully.
"You're not my girlfriend?" Keefe asked surprisedly. He immediately regretted it after seeing her shocked and torn face. "Sorry, sorry, I thought I would have asked you out by now, plus your reaction.. Nevermind," he said, trying to veer off this uncomfortable conversation.
"It's fine," She said quickly. "Let's go call Elwin over and figure out how the hell to get your memory back,"
