"Talking"
POV/Location/Time
Your POV
"You're annoying," Maki grumbled, "You know that right (Y/N)?"
"It just makes me all the more irresistible darling." You once again teased the glasses girl.
"D-Don't call me that!" Maki blushed after hearing you call her that.
"A stutter! I'm making progress!" But your victory was short lived after you received another punch to your gut, "Oh dear dad..."
"What?" Maki gave you the strongest combination of confusion yet disgust you had ever seen.
"I don't know..." You muttered, "I just said it out of instinct."
"Bastard..." Maki exhaled and draped your arm over her shoulder, "Come on."
"You really do love me." Your smug smile returned.
"I'm only doing this because you healed me and I punched you in the stomach twice." Maki hissed, "Not out of love!"
"You're not punching me this time though." You chuckled, "I should probably stop testing my luck."
"Please." Maki continued to hold you until you got to your dorm room, which happened to be right next to Maki's.
"Well then, it seems it was a match made in-" You were about to tease her once again, but she interrupted you.
"Stop. Don't go there." Maki slightly begged.
"Okay." You opened the door to your dorm and walked inside, knowing that Maki was shocked that that was all it took to stop you.
Two hours later...
The past two hours were rather uneventful, most people keeping to themselves and nothing really happening otherwise. That is, until Panda knocked on your door.
"Yo (Y/N), we've got an assignment." Panda informed you, "We're going now."
"Cool! Something to do other than twiddle my thumbs!" You jumped up from your bed and swung your door open.
"Tuna mayo." Inumaki handed you a small box.
"My contacts?" You tilted your head in confusion for a moment, "Oh my contacts!"
You swiftly tore open the box and slipped on the contacts, your vision gaining a more colorful view.
"Woah." You looked around a minute, "That's a gloomy thought. Seeing through contacts being more colorful than reality."
"The same happened to me." Maki's voice rang out from behind you.
"HOW DID YOU GET BEHIND ME!?" You practically jumped into Panda's arms, "THERE'S ONLY ONE ENTRANCE TO MY ROOM?!"
"This is my room." Maki explained.
"Oh." You said flatly.
"Idiot..." You could tell Maki was making a list of your idiotic tendencies.
"Let's just go." Panda suggested, "Before Maki punches (Y/N)."
"I would prefer that!" You still hid behind Panda, fearing Maki's wrath.
"Salmon." Toge nodded.
The outskirts of Tokyo an hour later...
"So this is the haunted place?" You pointed to a sprawling yet abandoned series of apartment complexes, "I can see why."
"Kids have gotten injured or gone missing playing here," Maki sighed dejectedly, "Making it a target of negative emotions."
"And consequently curses." Panda pointed to the sky, "There goes one now."
You looked up and saw a curse with a bulbous head covered in eyes with tiny wings and limbs landing on the closest apartment building.
"Should we split up?" You knew they understood your strength, "I can take a building on my own, so that leaves two for you guys to cover."
"No. We should work on teamwork now that you're here." Maki ordered, "Inumaki and (Y/N) will be a team, given your differences in combat."
"You got it!" Giving her a smile, you dragged Inumaki to the closest building, "Let's go partner!"
"Mustard leaf!" Inumaki's voice was shaky as he bounced up and down in your grip.
You dropped him right outside the door and helped him up, "Heh, sorry about that."
"Salmon roe." Inumaki regained his bearings and opened the door to the complex, the shift in climate blaringly obvious.
"This is a place of death." You summoned an Angel Blade, "The strongest curses will be here."
Inumaki watched as you spun the blade around your hand for a moment before properly gripping it.
"Thirteen seconds from now a curse is going to come down the stairs." You whispered, "Fifteen seconds one will come from the far door on the left. I'll take the stairs, you get the door."
Inumaki's eyes widened a moment before he nodded in agreement. The two of you got into position and killed the two curses easily, with you stabbing the curse in the head and Inumaki forcing the curse to explode.
"That cursed speech is really useful sometimes." You praised his ability earning a visible smile from underneath Inumaki's mask, "Anyways, I still feel the presence of eight more curses. There's the one on the roof, but the rest are all huddled together for some reason three floors above us."
"Tuna." Inumaki pointed at a trail of fresh blood going up the stairs.
"Blood?" You bent down and touched it, using your information analysis ability on it, "It's a kid's! We need to get there now!"
"Mustard leaf!" Inumaki rushed up the stairs as you followed behind.
"At the end of the hall!" You took the lead once you got to the floor, "It's on the right! Go into the room before it and bust down the wall once I make myself known to the curses!"
"Salmon Roe!" He broke off from you as you stopped in front of the door leading to the curses.
"Five seconds and Inumaki will get there." You took a deep breath and flashed your smug smile.
You forced open the door and laughed at the abominations, "Hello curses! How do you do?'
"Crumble apart!" The wall next to you crumbled to pieces and revealed Inumaki, a deathly stare on his face.
"Now then," You summoned your second Angel Blade, "None shall escape from this room."
"Salmon." Inumaki got into a ready stance as did you.
The first curse, one shaped like a ball with a seemingly infinite amount of limbs launched itself towards you, but you just stabbed the center of its blobby mass and reduced it to nothing. The second, looking like a demented spider with sixteen limbs rushed Inumaki, but he just told it to simply die. You watched the curse fade away to nothing and shuddered before making quick work of the rest, stabbing here and over there at a rapid pace before stopping next to a young girl.
"She can't be more than three!"
"Salmon Flakes!"
"She's not conscious though... Damnit! We were only late by a small margin."
"Mustard leaf..."
