•Darryl's POV•
Every year in spring there's a contest with the two schools of the city, Alsprout and Otay. And we always lose, it pisses me off. Alsprout is already known to have bad grades and troublesome students, and now we're seen as weak.

Yes It was supposed to be there to have fun at first, but it quickly became to see who's strongest. Very competitive and we all take it very seriously.

It's called SSC, standing for Strongest School Challenge. They should change the name though, since most of the time, two people from the same school will fight each other because it's uneven and they want to know the strongest student too.

The one that created this? No students even knows. Only the principals knows who the 'master' is. But they for sure always find great challenge for us.

Though it got so harsh that we now have a few witch healers every year to heal everyone after the match.

It's always the same guy that beats me, we always end up doing 1v1 in the ends battles. He's a demon too, I don't remember his name. As if I cared enough to remember. He always end up in the first place too. He would leave me pretty fucked up most of the time, but I never spared him either.

To participate to SSC you have to sign up at least a week before it starts and they need your parent's approval. Most parents says yes because there's healers and no death yet. Plus parents actually encourage it, trying to get their child to win just for the price and fame.

If you want to get in the team while it already started, they said that they got miss Franklyn that can summon demons from hell. Those demons are from hell, they will kill any kind of living in front of them and they're way stronger than humans. So to get in the team while SSC already started, you'd have to fight and win against three random demons coming from hell. Basically it's suicide, and probably no parents would approve. So no body tried it, so we don't know if they'd do that for real or if it's just to scare us.

Anyways, now like we do every year, the people that want to participate will be practicing their powers while the other that doesn't participate either help them out or does nothing, they most likely do nothing, because we don't want help.

The PE teachers are the ones who give the papers for our parents signatures.

Now we're all practicing, I will win this year. I swear I will. Everyone just started training themselves, the teacher cheering.

I just started practicing, we got a quite big place so I went in a corner, away from everyone else.

After a while I started to get tired, but I do not want to stop. I need to get better. So I kept training my powers.

"Dude you should take a little break, you'll definitely faint" I flinched a bit and looked at the bench that is close to me, Zak was sitting there, hugging his knees and staring at me.

Since when was he here- I didn't hear him, I hate this usually my hearing is very strong, but I never notice him around until he talks to me. how is he so quiet, Is it an elf thing??

Right, I need to answer, I shook my head a bit. "Nah, I don't have time for a break." He stared at me, with a serious expression. I sighed, this guy I swear-

I looked around, seeing no one is looking at us, and sat beside him, like fine, just a few minutes. He smiled and gave me my water bottle, so I drank a bit.

"So, you're really into this SSC stuff huh" he asked, so I looked at him.

"Yeah, aren't you?"

He crossed his arms, staring at me. "No, I think it's stupid. Why so agressive for a damn price."
