TRIGGER WARNING - CHOKING

Kaz woke up from their nap. Their day had already begun pretty uneventful since their father had to work. They had the whole house to themselves for a few hours. Why not spend those hours with his best friend instead of rotting away in boredom?

Kaz took their neon skateboard off his wall and slipped his mango flavored cart into his pocket. After 15 minutes, sugar finally made their way to Adam's house. He knocked on the door and his mom had answered. Kaz would say he had a good relationship with her.

Even though Kaz knew what was going on behind the scenes and absolutely despised her, he still wanted to maintain a good relationship with her so he can come over.

After greeting his mom, Kaz made their way up to Adam's room. Adam's mom made sure to let her son know about his friend being over beforehand, just in case Kaz accidentally "walked in on something he shouldn't have seen" in his mom's words. 

Kaz slammed Adam's door open, expecting to see a surprised and happy Adam waiting for him. What he saw was quite different actually. Kaz noticed Adam had a sad expression painted on his face. Kaz immediately felt their heart tighten at the sight of their friend like this.

The slowly approached Adam and lightly gestured to his bed. Adam gave him a small nod in return and Kaz sat on his bed. Once sweet had made themselves comfortable, they asked Adam the question that infected their brain.

KAZ - "Dude, are you okay?"

Kaz noticed how Adam's chest slightly toughened. He noticed the boy trying to calm his breathing. Kaz suddenly had a thought. One of the first things Adam opened up to him about was his sleep paralysis. He remembered the previous times he snook out in order to comfort the boy. Kaz thought maybe that could be it.

ADAM - "I don't know."

Kaz looked back up at Adam.

KAZ - "Was it another one of... those?"

He saw how Adam's physique nearly collapsed at his comment. That had to be it.

Adam looked up at Kaz with a teary-eyed expression before slightly nodding. Kaz signaled for a hug by lifting sugars arms out just far enough for Adam to slip into their embrace. Sugar listened to every single word coming from his best friend's mouth. He cradled him as he sobbed. 

KAZ - "I-Oh wow."

ADAM - "I know."

Once Adam's breakdown had finished, he asked Kaz for his opinion on this. Kaz thought a bit before answering him honestly.

KAZ - "I think you should stay away from anything blackberry for a bit."

ADAM - "That's what I'm planning on doing."

Kaz let out a sigh of relief. He was hopeful that Adam would keep his promise.

The comforting silence was replaced by a notification alert coming from Kaz's phone. They opened it and smiled.

"MR PINEAPPLE" - "Hey Pumpkin, I just got off of work and I was wondering if you wanted to come skating with me? I learned a few new tricks!"

KAZ - "OFC!!! JUST GIMMIE A SEC IM AT ADAMS RN!!!"

"MR PINEAPPLE" - "Alright! Hurry up though, the good spots will be taken up quick!!"

KAZ - "IM SAYING GOODBYE 2 HIM THEN ILL BE OMW"

"MR PINEAPPLE" - "See you in a bit, Pumpkin! Love you ❤️🍍"

KAZ - "I LOVE YOU 2 DAD!!!"
