The first guard turned to his friend after the commissioner left. They were both equally confused. "That Batman sure is a weirdo, huh?"
"So is our commish..." The second guard added. He moved to start picking up the straps they had thrown to the side earlier, grumbling to himself. "Hey, help me with this thing, why dontcha?"
"Yeah, yeah," The first guard walked over to his friend and began picking up straps too. Together they loaded up the tilt top table and picked up their guns. As the second guard struggled to push the cart by himself the first guard jogged over and grabbed his lunch. He didn't get to finish because Gordon had showed up and demanded they get into position, so he had put his unfinished ham sandwich off to the side.
He picked a few pieces of dirt off the bread and took a bite of the sandwich- mmm, just as good as he left it!
He straightened his hat and looked over in the direction Batman had left, wondering where exactly he had gone. That guy was an oddball. Running around in a silly costume and fighting crime, doing the police work for them.
"Hey! I said help me with this thing, not stand around!" The second guard shouted at him.
"Right!" The first guard called back, running over to help his friend who was grumbling to himself again. They pushed the tilt top to the stairs. "Whole city's full of a buncha weirdos, huh?"
The second guard agreed, "Yep."
"We should really move."
