The "kid" ran fast, like really fast. That was another thing people assumed about vampires that wasn't really true: we had super human strength and speed. Vampires were really pretty similar to humans, except the fact that we drank blood and were a bit weak to sunlight. As the world got more advanced, vampires began to have to do the same. Fitting in only worked if you could do just that.

Eventually, he turned a corner and I followed, crashing into him immediately. We both fell backward, him breathing heavily. He looked at me, with a mix between fear but also, I don't know, maybe smugness. His lips were curled into a bit of a smirk.

"Vampire, huh?" I squinted my eyes at him. Now that I was really looking at Jayden, he was quite a good looking man. It was kind of hard to tell from afar because his hair cast such a shadow over his face, but he was cute. Not that any of that meant anything, especially in that moment. "And don't start with me about it being fake, because I know fake blood when I see it." Ew, weird. I was caught. I didn't know what to say.

Of all the times I had been caught, most of them ended with the person being scared shitless and surrendering. When I told Wyatt, he was scared at first, but once I explained everything to him, he wasn't all that worried. He knew that I wasn't trying to go after people unless I had to. Here, Jayden, now, didn't seem scared at all. He was smug about the capture.

"Cool, you're a vampire. I'm sure you don't want this getting out, right?" He went to go stand up, not even bothering to help me up. He put his hands into his giant hoodie's large front pocket. I stood up as well. He was slightly taller than me, but not by much. We stared each other down. I didn't want to answer him. "Yeah, you don't," he assumed. "So, here's what's going to happen, Ms. Vampire. You're going to do some stuff for me, and in return, I won't say shit. If you don't, well, we all know what vampires' weakness is." We were too public, because otherwise I would've lunger for him. I had no problem killing people, but it was messy and loud, and I didn't need to do it to survive.

"Okay, asshole," I curled my lip at him, growling. "What the fuck do you want?" He wasn't cute anymore. I said to myself that it really depended on what he answered, if I would do what he said. I wouldn't be that pushed around, but I also didn't want to cause any scenes or the like. The less amounts of attention to myself, the better.

"Well," he tapped his chin, pretending to think about it. He started pacing lightly, the stupid, dumb smile still on his face. If my glare meant anything, it would mean he'd be dead. Just the smugness that he exuded was enough to make me dislike him. "I want you to kill some people for me." He stopped, making direct eye contact with me. My anger fell from my face, turning into shock. I had had plenty of people ask for things in return for my silence. It usually went along the lines of doing small things for them, or not hurting them or their families, but never, and I mean never, had it been to commit murder.

This Jayden guy was fucking insane.

"You want me to kill people for you?" I repeated, just making sure I had heard him right.

"Yeah. You probably are used to killing people, so why not make it for a better purpose?" He shrugged, as if what he just said wasn't completely absurd. Absurd is a understatement. I knew I couldn't really judge him too much, as he was right. I was responsible for countless deaths, but I never did it with joy. Yeah, I didn't mind killing people too much, but it wasn't a fun thing for me. It kind of sucked. If I didn't have to kill people, I usually didn't. Jayden made me want to commit murder, though--him being the victim.

"That's not true," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Yeah, sure, whatever, vampire." He rolled his eyes back at me. How old was this guy? Wyatt had called him a kid, so I assumed he was at most, maybe twenty. He acted like a damn twelve year old. He dressed like one too. "So, what is it? Your safety and just some quick fun, or putting yourself in harm's way of, well, everyone?"
