Quaint and closer to the mountains than any sign of civilisation, Oakridge is the last place Alyssa expects to find trouble, but trouble has a funny way of finding her anyway. In the hopes of laying low, she decides to stay as far away from drama as humanly possible, and finish high school with her head to the ground.
That plan gets thrown out the window rather quickly when she joins the Stone Twins' friend group-against her will, mind you-and becomes entangled in a feud between two powerful families. Her parents told her to stay away, and maybe she should have listened, but now she has no choice but to see it through.
There is something dangerous lurking in the forest, and Alyssa knows she shouldn't play in the wolf's den, but she's already trapped in a world she has no understanding of but can't escape. A heritage of something mystical and unnatural is waiting for her, and she's already followed the beast into its lair. Now it's a game of 'fight to survive or die trying' and Alyssa has no intention of giving up. Not when there's so much at stake.
So much for a quiet, drama-free year...
