I should've known better than to listen to the government. They're all liars, but when they threatened my family, my first instinct was to do as they'd asked.

The government could do as they pleased, they'd kill me and my family in an instant, without hesitation. I blame myself for this whole mishap. My research was my life and they promised that they would kill me if this little experiment failed.

It was a Monday and I struggled to get out of bed. My hair was a bird's nest, my clothes were wrinkled and I had the face of a caveman. After getting cleaned up, I went into my living room to grab my research and my lunch.
Suddenly there was a loud banging on the front door.

"FBI! Open up!" I stood frozen in fear. Within seconds the door was knocked down and I was on my knees waving my hands in the air like a maniac. "OMG! Please don't hurt me?!" I cried out trying my best to sound innocent.

A large man with biceps that probably weighed as much as me walked over and pulled out a gun. My fists automatically clenched. I swung my fist back and hurled it toward the Sasquatch. He caught my hand and threw me to the ground. I started to rise but was stopped by a gunshot. And just like that, sleep didn't sound like such a bad idea.

I wake up and try to move. I wince, my stomach is killing me, I thought. Quickly glancing around, I see about twelve FBI agents. A nurse comes into the room, picks me up and gently places me in a wheelchair.

As she wheels me down the halls I feel uneasy. We finally arrive at our destination. An agent spoke, "We've got her boss." A man in a wheelchair emerges from the darkness. "Ma'am, I'm sorry about the injury," He spoke, "we needed your help. I've heard about your research. I have ALS and if it gets any worse I'll die, I need a cure."

I felt overwhelmed with so many emotions. He looked genuine but he had me kidnapped and shot. I had to think fast. "Sir, I am truly sorry but I don't have the equipment or the money to purchase it." I smirked at my excuse. "We have the equipment here." He said with a smile.

My smirk immediately dropped. "If I refuse will you kill me?" I asked though I knew the answer. "Without hesitation." He stated seriousness evident in his voice. "Well I guess I have no choice then," I sighed. "But under one condition; you must support and protect me and my family."

I sat up straight and tried to sound tough but failed. I know this request could go either way. The man stared at me intently, "We will do as you wish as long as you continue the experiment. If it fails you will be shot dead immediately." He states sternly. I nod in fear.

It all went south from there. I continued my research and conducted the experiment, and they did as promised and protected and supported my family. One day I decided to test the serum on a human being. He had ALS and the doctors told him that his life was practically over.

I injected him at approximately 4:30 p.m. At 5:00 p.m. I came back into the room to observe his behavior. I walked into the room only to be tackled to the ground. The man's face was a sickly green, his skin seemed ro be peeling, and his body odor smelled of portapotties and rotten eggs.

I screamed out to the agent gaurding the room. He stood in the doorway with a gaping mouth, until he finally came over and pulled the man off of me. "I have strict orders to take you out if the procedure fails, and it seems to have." He awkwardly pulled out his gun.

"NOOOOOOO! I can fix this I just need to run some tests. Please sir." I begged. He nodded and cuffed the man placing him back on the operation table. Desperate to stay alive I continued to examine the him. I stared at the man before me. His blood was black and caked up where he had cuts and where his skin was peeling.

I called the agent back into the lab. "I will need another ALS patient to observe their behavior toward each other." The agent looked terrified but nodded and exited the lab.

The next morning, as I walked into the lab I was frightened by the horrific sight before me. The man that had been injected with the serum was feeding on the human that was brought in the other night. His back was to me but I could smell the blood in the air. This....this....ZOMBIE!!!! I'd created my worst fear.

I backed up toward the door which caused the zombie to acknowledge my presence. By then, I was screaming with tears falling from my eyes, as I went off running full speed out the door. The zombie chased me as if it wanted revenge for turning it into this monster.

I came to a sudden stop as I reached my boss's office. He would surely kill me iff he found out. I quickly rounded the corner and headed toward the emergency exit. I pulled the fire alarm on my way out to evacuate the building. Once in the parking lot I grabbed my keys from my pocket, started the car and sped to my house.

On my way there I dialed my husband's number. He answered, "Hey baby, what's up?" I quickly spoke. "Honey, hurry and pick the kids up from school and meet me at home in twenty minutes." I hung up before he could protest.

I ran into the house and emptied the drawers of each person and set the bags by the door. Then I ran into the kitchen and emptied the cabinets, grabbing all the dry foods and can goods and placing them in large bags. I put everything from the refrigerator into five coolers. I also packed books, toys, movies and utensils into a duffel bag.

By then my husband and two children were in the living room giving me questioning looks about the bags. I spoke sternly, "Go to the bathroom then meet me in the car." They did as they were told while me and Zachary loaded the bags into the car.

"What's going on?" He asked me. "I'll explain later, right now I just need to get to the closest store." After we were loaded into the car I drove to the closest Rite-Aid, bought five bags of ice and packed the car with medicines and snacks.

We drove in silence until I finally spoke, "Honey do you have your gun?" "Yeah. Why?" He asked. "Because we may need it." I answered keeping my eyes glued on the road up ahead.
