Di smirks as she put her poker winnings in her Disney's Hercules mini backpack-purse, sure she comes to the Lotus Hotel every week, but it's so satisfying to wipe the table with suckers who don't learn. As she puts her left arm through the last strap on her bag, her right is jerked back, "DI!?"
Di turns to the voice and sees a curly blonde girl is gripping her arm, "Oh, hey Annie, didn't know this was your type of scene."
Annabeth (the blonde) looks at Di as though she lost her mind. Jokes on her though Di never had a full juice cup if you know what she means. A voice to their right gives a nervous chuckle that sounds like a goats bleat, "Di, you've been missing for like a week."
Di glances over to see two boys staring at her and Annabeth. One is tall, has a slouch hat, and is scraggly looking with some acne a wispy beard on his chin, like teen-hood decided to hit him randomly with all its force. The other is average height with messy black hair and a pair of eyes that remind Di of the ocean. Of them Di recognizes the boy with the hat as the one who said she was missing, "A week!? Oh man! My mom's are going to absolutely kill me! I set my timer for an hour!" The other three look at each other as Di pulls her prototype phone out of her pocket, "Oh, great, the timer somehow turned itself off. I'm so complaining to Beckendorf when I get back."
"Just to be clear," ocean eyes says slowly, "You're not upset you've been missing a week? But that your timer didn't work?"
Di rolls her eyes as she looks at him, "I am upset that I've been missing for a week, but the timer was supposed to be the deterrent for that so that I would be out of here in an hour instead of being stuck for forever."
Ocean eyes grabs Di's shoulders, "You know that this place makes you not want to leave?"
Di slowly pulls his hands off her shoulders and starts moving the group to the exit of the Hotel, "Of course I do. I'm pretty sure it has a time dilation field too, since in here it could feel like an hour, but out there it's been longer."
"Would you like to try our Platinum card level?" a man dressed in uniform asks as he holds out a platter full of the cards.
The boy with a hat raises his arm, "Oooo, platinum."
"No, Grover," Di says plainly not looking away from the employee, " Sorry Jeremy, not for these three. I will be back in a month to clean out another card table."
Jeremy gives Di a smile as he places a lid over the platter, "Of course Miss Vitis. Have a good month, we await your arrival."
Di gives him a nod as she starts pushing the trio out the doors.
