My curiosity got the best of me. I quietly tip toed back to the door. Making sure I was out of sight. I peeked my head towards the crack to look. Davis was scrolling on his phone for something. Ashton was standing by the glass doors, his arms were crossed. "The Gutmans' are fucking furious for her leaving. Roger called me, cussing up a storm." Davis held up some messages for him to see.
Ashton shot him a dirty look. "I don't give a fuck about him or his asshole son. She's no one's property. She deserves to be treated better than that." He actually cared about my feelings. He wasn't lying. But was this just a show he's putting on? Davis walked over to the door. I quickly pulled away and hid on the side. He slammed the door shut. "You're making a huge fucking mistake. Angel wants to get back with you. The fans are begging to see the two of you together."
"IT'S NOT GOING TO FUCKING HAPPEN." Ashton was furious. Just hearing him shout, made me extremely nervous. I've seen him calm, cool and collected. But every time someone mentions Angel, he shuts down. "She's a fucking cheater. Sleeps with whoever. I want a woman who's going to love just me."
"And you really think that's Scarlett?" Davis sounded ticked. "How do you know she's not in it for you or your money?"
"If she wanted my money, she would be asking for it already. If she wanted me for my stardom, she would be begging to go to the press. Make an announcement to the whole world." His voice changed when he spoke about me. It sounded soft and very sure.
"I'm telling you this now, as your manager. This will not end well." Davis spoke in a hushed tone.
"I don't care. I'm willing to risk a little." Ashton spoke proudly.
"You also threw D-Dog out of your club? Have you lost your fucking mind?" Davis was rambling on, but I couldn't hear the rest of it. I walked back to the guest room and kept unpacking my things. Grabbing my bathroom supplies, I headed into the bathroom. Placing everything on the counter. I turned around, Ashton stood there. I jumped. "You scared the shit out of me." He moved forward to kiss me. I pushed him away, "Are you okay?"
He shurgged. "I'll be fine." He glanced over his shoulder then back at me. He was acting very strange.
"Arrow?" I asked concerningly. Something in my gut told me that this wasn't normal. Something was very off.
He shook his head. "Sorry. Just a little tired. Hey, did you need anything from me?"
I raised my eyebrow. This was the same vibe I got when I tried to get an interview with Ashton. He wasn't Ashton. This was his decoy again. "Like what?" I asked while crossing my arms. I planned to play along with this game.
He grabbed my hands and held them. "An allowance? Since you don't have a job and..."
I cut him off. "I have my own money. I don't want yours. We already talked about this. If you want to spend money on me, you can. You know I don't like it though." The decoy was thrown off by my statement. He wasn't expecting that. After hearing Davis talking to Ashton, I bet this whole thing was his idea. The decoy shook his head. "Okay. What about the press?"
I pulled my hands away, glaring at him. "And what about them?"
He ran his fingers through his hair. "Don't you want to make it official? This would make Angel back off."
I blinked at him. Has he not met Angel? She would go crazy if she found out Ashton was trying to date me. "Do you really think Angel would leave us alone? And no, the press doesn't need to be in Arrow's business." The decoy froze. "You couldn't fool me the first time. You haven't fooled me the second time. Everything I told you is exactly how I feel. I didn't need to be tested."
