"We can't keep running for forever, Keoni," Cobra said and pursed his lips.

"Shut up. I'll do what I want, Erik," I replied rather annoyed. He took my hand and looked me in the eyes. He knew exactly what I was thinking.

'You can't keep doing this to yourself, Keoni. You have to get over your brother's death and move on.'

I could hear his thoughts when he touched me. Sometimes it helped ease the pain of words that were too painful to say out loud. A single tear traced my cheek and his usual cold stare softened.

'Don't worry, we'll be okay,' he thought and wiped away my tears. We laid down and tried to rest but I couldn't stop thinking about him. Lightning Bolts is what I called him.

I knew his grandfather, Makarov, one of the Wizard Saints. He used to watch me as a child until I was kidnapped by Oracion Seis. They became my family, and Cobra became my best friend.

Cobra was the only one who knew about my fascination with Laxus Dreyar. He would often complain about why I was fascinated with him instead of Cobra himself. The maroon-haired poison mage had a short fuse when it came to me and he always complained about not being the center of my attention anymore.

"Don't worry about it, Erik," I would say. He would only frown, hug me, and stay quiet. I felt bad about it and of course he knew, but that didn't make me or him feel better.

"That's it. If all you can think about is Lightning Bolts, go find his ass."

I stared at him in mock confusion, not understanding anything.

"It's obvious you like him! Go find him. Maybe he'll treat you decent. I'll tell Racer and Angel to deal with your leave."

I nodded and leaned into his chest. He would stay awake some nights and listen to my dreams. If I couldn't remember them he told me when I woke up. And that night I had a dream that Laxus hurt me. I was scared and in pain. Then Cobra came to save me like he always would.

"Hey, wake up!" he shouted through my screaming. His embrace around my tiny frame had become as strong as a python's death grip (Considering 'Cobra' xD sorry I had to ).

"This is the fourth night in a row you've had that dream, Keo. I won't let this happen to you," he huffed. He picked me up and muttered something incoherently in his mind. It was still pretty late, or early as I should say, it was about 4:30. We were walking, well, he was, to the nearest train station that would get us to Magnolia.

"You may be smitten for that guy, but if he's an asshole and hurts you like he does in your dreams, OOH he's gonna get it," Cobra warned.

We had arrived in the town and were on our way to the guild when my stomach grumbled. 'That place over there smells amazing! FOOD.' I thought. Cobra chuckled and we continued on to the restaurant.

"Our special today is snake stew, would you like some?" said a kind old lady.

Cobra had never looked so terrified in his entire life. 'Calm down, jeez,' I thought.

'Easy for you to say, you're a Water Dragon Slayer. I'm kinda... I don't know, POISON SNAKE DRAGON SLAYER.'

"Turn off the caps lock in your brain, it's giving me a headache," I seethed. He gave an annoyed grunt in reply as our food arrived.

"I DON'T CARE. GET THOSE LOUSY EXCUSES OF WIZARDS OUTTA THIS GUILD!"

My head snapped to view a blond man outside yelling at... Makarov?

'Holy shit... Erik, that's Laxus.'

'Well, why don't you try to calm him down?' Cobra suggested.

I decided to take his advice and I slowly walked toward him.

"U-umm, L-Laxus?"

"Whaddya want?"

"U-uh, I, uh..."

"Spit it out, woman! You're wasting my time!"

"I wanted to know if you wanted to hang out later or something. I've got things I need to tell you, but if not, that's totally fine, and I apologize for asking," I blurted rather quickly. Hopefully, he understood what I was saying.

"Hmm, fine. Meet me at the tree in the middle of Southgate Park."

"And... do me one last favor.. don't yell at Makarov anymore."

He raised an eyebrow at me, silently asking me for further explanation. But Makarov noticed familiarities in my features.

"Keoni? Is that you?"
