MARAMA'S POV

The howls of the wind whistle through the peaks of the mountains, the eerie groans of abandoned villages, lay depressed and forgotten as nature claims the destruction. A winged maiden clutches the sack wrapped around her body, marks of discoloured bruises and wounds scatter the exposed flesh, the pale complexion ghostly sickening with concern. Waiting, the young woman waits impatiently, weary and exhausted as the cold creeps further as the sun falls behind the horizon. A man appears, this very man who had rescued the winged girl— the man is adorned with layered robes, light ivory armour with a basket full of herbs and roots. Silent, the winged girl stands to her bare feet, the robed man stares at the young woman with sympathy, too staying silent as they both continue to ascend up the trail where flights of broken stairs and rubble hinder their hike as they reach their destination.

"This is my home— your home for the time being" the man spoke, breaking the silence. With a nod, this pale maiden shuffles forward as the robed man welcomes the distressed maiden into his sanctuary, torches cold and worn, relit as the robed man warms the silent abode.

"Temperature drops drastically up here, take these and clean yourself... avoid any open wounds and rashes, I'll make herbal ointments to aid your scarred wounds" he spoke, rushing to gather a set of his wardrobe for the young maiden.

"I have onsens on the property, they're located east", points her to the direction of his hot springs, "clean yourself young one, supper won't be long" the man concludes.

Returning a weak smile with his sympathetic one, the winged girl retreats to the stranger's onsen, the steam rolling off the surface of the pond. Secured and protected by the blistering wind, bamboo walls and trees surround her. Entering the waters, the pale maiden basks in the comfort of warmth and serenity, forgetting the sins of her life in this pristine sanctuary.
