Sirius Black was a chaotic mess of a human being, Alya learned rather quickly.

He relied very heavily on Lily Potter to show him how to take care of his daughter. They were often over at the Potter residence. In fact, she felt herself grow more accustomed to the bright lively Potter house than her father's dull flat in London.

Little Harry Potter was completely enamored by Alya, and much to her amusement, this infuriated Dadfoot who glared at the Baby Potter Heir for 'trying to seduce his little princess'

Sirius was a very attentive and loving father, James Potter went as far as to say Sirius was completely obsessed with little Alya.

Sirius often worried about how quiet his baby was but Lily was quick to assure him she was just a very well-behaved child.

"You sure she's yours, Pads?" James teased when Lily boasted about how behaved and smart Alya was.

"Shut it, Prongs. She'll be causing mischief soon enough." Sirius smirked.

"Oh ya? Think she'll be like you at Hogwarts?" A slow smirk grew on James' face.

"Absolutely!"

"Oh, those boys better watch out then. If she's like you then she'll be flirting with the lot of them. If Harry is any indication they'll all fall right in line too." The prick knew what he was doing and the response was immediate.

A look of dramatized horror exploded on Sirius's face as the color drained from his already pale skin.

"NO!" Sirius grabbed Alya holding her close and kissed her soft cheeks as she giggled. "Daddy is the only boy you need! You don't even need to look at another boy as long as you live. Don't be like daddy, my baby, my perfect princess, you stay away from boys! No dating for...till....ever!"

Alya giggled more at her dad's antics, pulling out the one card that she had been saving for a special occasion, "DADA!"

Time seemed to freeze, as did all the adults in the room.

"DADA!" Alya squealed again, laughing internally at their shocked faces.

"OH, MY MERLIN! SHE SAID DADA! PRONGS, SHE SAID MY NAME! SHE SAID DADA!" Sirius went ballistic kissing her cheeks and cheering as he bounced about the room with her safely tucked in his arms.

"YES, BABY GIRL! SAY DADA!" Her father cheered.

"SAY PRONGS, ALYA SAY UNCLE PRONGS!" James called out, trying to goad Alya into saying his name as well.

"Come on, Alya. Say, Lily. Li-Ly." Lilly said trying to take the baby from Sirius.

Then by some miracle, the entertainment for Alya got even better as Harry decided not was the time to say his first word as well.

"AyyA!" Harry cried out, smiling a gummy baby smile.

A fury lit in Sirius' eyes as he glared at the baby, "Did he just say, Alya?"

He held Alya moving towards Harry as he saw the little boy reach out for his friend, "Ayya!!!"

"Harry, you traitor! Alya's first word was Dada!" James cried lifting his son up, only for the baby boy to pout still making grabby hands at Alya.

"Get your seducer of a son away from my angel, Prongs," Sirius growled protectively holding Alya close.

"I don't know, Padfoot. If they get married, we can be family!" James said, only partially teasing.

"Alya's never getting married. She's living with Daddy forever." Sirius announced, completely... serious.

Lily sat over by Harry, trying desperately to get him to say, mama.

The days went like that for quite a while, easy, happy, lovely.

Alya had nearly forgotten what was to come. The tragedies that would tear their happy family apart. She knew there was nothing she could do. She was still a baby and had no influence on the world yet. But it still hurt to know your happy days were numbered.

Alya was left with Zisby, a trusted house elf that once belonged to her mother, on Halloween night of 1981.

Her father had hurriedly placed a kiss on her head, ordering Zisby to protect Alya until he returned.

But he never did return.

It took two days before Zisby heard the news, Sirius Black was thrown in Azkaban for the murders of Lily and James Potter. The Dark Lord had been vanquished by their son, Harry Potter, The-boy-who-lived.

Zisby took the little Heiress in her arms, and with the snap of her fingers, the elf and babe stood in front of 12 Grimmauld Place.

With a knock at the door, another elf answered.

"What business does you have with the house of Black?" The elf Kreacher grumbled as he glared at Zisby.

"Zisby has been tasked by Master Sirius Black, to protect Mistress Alya Black until he returns. Master Black is gone now and Mistress needs to be safe. So, Zisby brought Mistress here." Zisby explained.

Kreacher's eyes widened as he looked at the bundle in Zisby's arms, the heiress Black.

"Come, my mistress, Walburga Black will decide," Kreacher said as he led Zisby into the house.

Walburga sat prim and proper, a permanent sneer etched on her face as the elves entered.

"What is the meaning of this?" Walburga hissed as she glared at the stranger.

"Mistress Black, Zisby has come for the safety of my mistress, Alya Black, Daughter of Sirius Black and Lady Marie Beaumont, Heiress of the most ancient and noble houses of Black and Beaumont," Zisby announced holding the baby so that Walburga could see her face.

She had seen the change in the family tree in the next room, showing the birth of a pureblooded Heiress.

She had tried reaching out to Sirius, desperate to meet her granddaughter only to be denied. It was not surprising, she knew she had failed as a mother.

After the deaths of her son Regulus and her husband Orion, Walburga had a very quiet house to reflect on her past.

She had been blinded by fear of failure, blinded by the pretty words of a dark lord. She failed to remember what was most important.

So as she looked into the gorgeous grey eyes of her granddaughter, the decision had already been made that she would take in the babe for Sirius' sake.

She would not fail this time, not like before.

She stood, taking Alya into her arms, a silent promise.

"Hello, darling. I am your grandmama. I will care for you until your father returns."
