Chapter 1

Elyssa's POV

I open my eyes. Hello world I live in. I sit up and stretch, turning off my alarm clock and heading over to my closet to pick out my outfit. Its the first day of school today. I change into my clothes (Link in the description) and head downstairs. I sit down at the table and see Dad making breakfast.

((Italics is when she is texting or writing something to someone.))

"Hey Dad!" I text him.

"Oh hey honey, I was just about to go wake you up." Dad said chuckling.

I roll my eyes before opening my laptop to continue editing an animation I've been working on for Kia.

"So Elyssa..." My dad said trailing off.

Oh no.

Something's up.

"What is it Dad?"

"Well tonight My girlfriend is coming over for dinner,"

Oh ok.

I have actually met my Dad's girlfriend. She was really nice and I think she was great for my dad.

"and she's bringing her two sons with her. They are actually your age and go to your school." Dad said putting down my plate of pancakes in front of me.

What.

Oh Great.

Its not like I have anything against guys, its just if they go to my school then they probably know about me, unless they are some of the jocks... (Hint Hint :3)

I quickly eat my food and grab my backpack.

"I gotta go Dad. Syd and Kia are probably waiting for me. Bye!"

Which was a lie since Kia and Syd weren't gonna be on the bus today but I didn't need to tell Dad that.

"Bye Honey! Have a good first day!" My dad yells as I walk to the bus stop.

I get over to the bus stop and take out my phone. Soon the bus is here and I get on.

The bus ride isn't that long thankfully. Soon we are at school and I run to my locker, trying not to be noticed by Them.

"Hey Freak!"

Too late.

The halls were empty, except for a few people, and Them.

Abigail and her crew walk over to me.

"I thought I told you to scram. Looks like roaches like you never learn."

One of them punches me in the stomach and I sink to the ground. They continue to kick me, saying a million different insults.

Worthless.

Stupid.

Shouldn't exist.

Tears start to form in my eyes. Why didn't anyone help?

I already knew the answer.

Nobody wanted to help the little mute girl.

At least that's what I thought.

"HEY! Leave her alone!"

That voice. It couldn't be.

Jason Probst, Quarterback and most popular boy in school, had just saved me.

"Abi what are you doing!" Jason said walking over to her, clearly angry.

"Oh hey Jason. I'm just teaching this roach a lesson" She said real sweet, probably trying to flirt with him, but he wouldn't have any of it.

"This girl is no roach. Just go." He said.

"Fine,"she said flipping her hair, "girls lets go."

And they walked off.

"Hey are you ok?" Jason said turning to me and holding out a hand.

My crush just saved me.

I gladly take it and stand up, quickly taking out my notebook and writing something down.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks. Oh and I don't talk, I'm a Mute. Thats partly why they bully me. I'm Elyssa Extabyte."

I show him the note and he smiles.

Thankfully I didn't have to talk because if I did I would be a stuttering mess.

"Jason. Jason Probst." he says.

"Yo Jason. Come on we're gonna be late for class!" a voice calls out.

It was Mitch along with the rest of Jason's crew.

"Well I better be going. Hope to see you around Elyssa" Jason says smiling, before walking back to his crew and disappearing.

I grab my stuff from my locker before heading to class to find Syd and Kia and tell them all about what had just happened.

Jason's POV

Extabyte... That name sounded familiar somehow.

I don't know where I heard it before, maybe at school?

Yeah, thats probably it. (That's not it Jason :3)

But that girl...

Seems like there's more to her than just being mute...

I hope I see her again.
