The black void slowly allows white light to come in as Reina begins to open her eyes. She holds up one hand to shield herself from the blinding light that fills up the entire room. She groans, wincing as she slowly sits up due the slight pain that's still lingering in her body.
Reina: "Augh... My aching head... Ow..."
She rubs the side of her bandaged head as she's finally allowed to see clearly, and it hits her with surprise as she realizes that she's in the hospital.
Reina: "What... happened?? How did I end up-?"
She rests her hand on her left side, only to feel bandages underneath her hospital wear. Her mind immediately went back to the night she was ambushed and the aftermath. Her complexion going pale.
Reina: "I... I was attacked?!"
The sound of the door to the room opening snapped her out of her state, as she turned to see Dr. Yamaoka walk into the room.
Dr. Yamaoka: "Oh thank goodness! You're finally awake! You had us all worried for a moment. How are you feeling?"
Reina: "Slightly dazed. My head feeling like a hurricane..."
Dr. Yamaoka: "Fair. Many other patients have had it far worse. But you seem to be handling it just fine for coming out of a 3-day coma."
The last three words that came out of the doctor only registered as Reina's facial expression morphed from a tired one to one of pure horror.
Reina: "3 days?!?!"
Dr. Yamaoka: "Yes. You were in a coma for 3 whole days. We were starting to fear that the worst had happened."
Reina: 'The worst?'
Despite having just woken up, the teen had almost immediately pieced to together that the doctors and nurses had thought she too injured to be saved.
Reina: 'I... I was on death's door...!!!'
Dr. Yamaoka walks over the girl's right side, right hand gloved, and crouches down so his head is level with hers. He rests his left hand on her shoulder.
Dr. Yamaoka: "You have no idea how lucky you are to be alive. I'd say that you were... this close to fracturing your skull."
He holds up his gloved hand and makes a small gesture, indicating how close this teenager was to death.
Reina: "That close?! I don't believe it...!"
Dr. Yamaoka: "Neither do I, nor my colleagues. Nonetheless, that fact isn't going to keep us from getting you back to 100%."
The doctor reaches his gloved hand out to the teen's right cheek, and gently pulls off the gauze, revealing a small scar underneath her eye.
Dr. Yamaoka: "We'll start off with the minor injuries. The cut on your cheek healed really quickly on its own..."
Reina: "...But it still left a scar behind."
Dr. Yamaoka: "Nothing my quirk can't handle. If you would hold your hair back for me?"
Reina: *slightly confused* "Okay..."
Despite her confusion, Reina obeyed what the doctor told her. He gently pressed four fingers of his ungloved hand on her scar, and after a brief moment of concentration, his eyes and hand began to glow. The light from his hand then glossed over the scar, covering it entirely, before disappearing completely, like magic.
Reina: "Wow... It's like it was never there from the start."
Dr. Yamaoka: "My quirk speeds up the process of the skin's self repair. It can heal burns, but it's more effective on wounds received."
