On the day of the contest, Wolf and Kalen go to support Jade.

"I hope Jade wins! She deserves this!" Wolf gushes.

Kalen smiles at him.

"You...really like her, don't you?"

"Of course! She's my best friend!"

Kalen chuckles under his breath.

"Oh, Wolfie, that's not what I meant..." he mutters to himself, grinning.

Jade does not win the competition due to plot armor, and also due to plot armor, Y/N does.

"Wow, you won! Good job!" Kalen congratulates his partner.

The two of them lean in towards each other into a kiss.

"It's okay, Jade, you're still beautiful!" Wolf is consoling Jade.

"Oh, yeah, Jade...I'm sorry. I wish you both could've won the $500. So Y/N, what are you doing with the $500?"

"I don't know yet, I'll just keep it in the bank."

"If it was me, I would've spent it on a plane ticket to see my boyfriend August." Jade mutters.

"What would you have done, Wolf?" Kalen asks.

"Oh, you know I would never enter something like this!"

"I know, but hypothetical."

"Um...college textbook money?"

"You're in college?" Y/N asks.

"Oh...yeah..."

"Yet you still seem like you can't tell your left from your right?"

"That's enough! If you insult Wolf, we can't be together! What's your deal with him anyways?" Kalen snaps.

"She told you not to message me."

"No, he told me to consider it."

"She didn't want us to be together!"

"He uses He/Him pronouns, first of all. And he didn't know you at the time!"

"I can't process Wolf's gender. It's too complicated for me. I perceive this human as a she."

Wolf shrugs.

"Okay, that's fair."

"No! Wolf!" Jade says. "That's not fair!"

"Honestly, my gender is whatever causes people the least distress and anger, so..."

Wolf politely says goodbye to everyone and goes home, leaving the group awkwardly standing around with the realization that Kalen is going to have to make the toughest choice of his life.

Friendship, or love?

Will Wolf be able to handle being misgendered for the rest of his life by Kalen's partner? Will Kalen be fine with this?

Jade doesn't seem to have anything to say to Kalen, she just looks at him with a pained expression on her face.

"Your boyfriend hurt Wolf, and that's not okay."

"Um...partner..." Kalen squeaks out, not wanting to add more fuel to the misgendering fire.

"Then why misgender him if they're not cis either?!"

"Because it's a robot, Jade. I'm dating a robot. And I think I should tell Wolf the truth. He deserves to know."

"I like Jade. She told you to date me. But not Wolf. She is bad. Very bad." Y/N mumbles.

Kalen pulls out his phone and decides to text him.

I'm sorry about what happened today. My partner Y/N is actually a robot, so it doesn't actually understand the concept of human gender

Kalen doesn't ask for forgiveness or anything, and leaves everything open-ended. When Wolf is ready to talk, he will.

He replies instantly.

It's ok. I'm sorry for leaving. It's not ur fault or Y/Ns. I was a bit upset, but I overreacted. Tell Y/N that I'm sorry too. I didn't know it was a robot

Kalen makes it his mission to teach Y/N how to gender people correctly. If you can teach a transphobe how to do it, surely you can teach a robot!

And Kalen does.

4 years later, he marries Y/N, Jade and her boyfriend got married a year and a half prior, and Wolf? Well, Wolf is still single.

The end
