*Neteyam's POV* It was the morning of the ceremony, and the Sully kids had to be up early, as they couldn't embarrass their dad. They were tasked with helping to decorate, get their outfits together, and arrange seats.

Neteyam finished his tasks early so that he could catch up with y/n, meeting her at her tent. He made himself known to be there, just as she was finished getting ready, adding the final touches to her jewelry, and fixing and earring into place.
"Neteyam!" y/n giggles at him as she pulls him into her room. "Hey, help me with my necklace, please" she says, moving her hair to the side. He chuckles and gently takes it from her. "What, no hello?" he jokes, before fastening the piece of jewelry to the beautiful girl in front of him. He decided to mess with her, and lightly blows on her neck, which makes her squirm in her seat. "Neteyamm" she breathed out; half annoyed, half amused. Neteyam takes her hand "you look beautiful y/n, are you finished getting ready? I want you to come to the ceremony with me..."
y/n looks confused, not because he asked her to attend with him, but because the ceremony didn't start for hours.

"Of course id love to go with you, but doesn't it start later in the day?"
"well yes, but i was thinking we could take a detour" he smiled a bit at her, and she nodded at him, trusting his plan. Her eyes flicked down to his big hands holding hers, and how they were warm, but also rough in texture, most likely due to him constantly out riding his Ikran, or hunting, or fighting with his brother. Neteyam noticed her looking at his hands, and a tension in the room began to form. They looked deep into each other's eyes, and his eyes flicked from hers to her lips occasionally, neither of them making a move, but both wanting to.

He started inching close to her face, her eyes slowly flickering shut, until Neteyam heard his name being called. He rolled his eyes, and grunted while getting up to see the commotion. It was kiri, most likely needing help with something due to the ceremony.
"shit y/n, i gotta go. I'll come find you later, k?" he kisses her on the cheek, and with that, he's off, sprinting to his sister, annoyed that his moment with y/n was interrupted again.

Eventually, it was time for the ceremony, with food, drinks, and snacks. Neteyam was having a nice time, having polite conversations with the elders, and congratulating his dad. But no matter where he looked, he couldn't find y/n.

He decided to scan the area one last time, before noticing some ugly boy talking to her. He was shorter than Neteyam, with a grubby look and false confidence written all over his smug little face. and it seemed like he was making y/n uncomfortable, or at the very least annoyed. He noticed her scanning the place for him, and then their eyes met. She lit up right away, and attempted to excuse herself from the "conversation" she was having with that boy. This made him angry, and he grabbed her arm with his nasty little sausage fingers before she could turn toward Neteyam, who was now speeding toward them.

"Hey, you should let her go. Now." Neteyam's voice was icy, and stern. The boy immediately regretted his actions, and backed off, but not before giving y/n a nasty look.
" Neteyam, my saviour!!" y/n laughed sweetly and went to hug him, but Neteyam still wasn't happy with what just went down. "who was that?" he asked, a look of disgust on his face as his eyes trailed the guy that just disrespected y/n.
"his name was Thanel, i think? anyways he wasn't important, or interesting." Neteyam looked down to y/n, his eyes softened, and he felt more calm.

Just as he was about to speak, music erupted from the most talented singers, and the people around them started to dance, and the couple decided to join in, laughing together, hand in hand.

Jake and Neytiri notice their eldest son, with the happiest expression on his face, and they smile to each other, delighted that their son had found someone so lovely to spend time with.

After the dance, the pair felt like doing on a walk somewhere to be alone together, as neither one could hear the other speak. They came across a serene spot in the forest, somewhere with soft moss/grass, tall trees, and a beautiful glow of the plants around them. They sat for while and spoke about the party, the food, their favourite song, and then Neteyam brought up how angry that guy had made him earlier. "He had no right to grab you like that y/n, i'm serious!" y/n placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, and whispered; "i'm so glad you were there. i didn't say earlier, but he really freaked me out. I don't know what i would've done without you..." she smiles up at him, and he takes her cheek into his hand.
