The ground rumbled, and I nearly choked on the drink I had taken from a nearby Bar.

I looked up, sharp eyes scanning the territory. It was a giant with moss covering half of his body. I growled, sat down my drink, thanked the bartender, paid him in 8 silver coins, and slithered out of her. e that cat is a nuisance. He is going to get himself killed if he continues to wake dangerous things. So I thought and jumped over the rooftops seeing that the giant had attacked the place where I had left the cat before. I branched my sword and struck the giant, confused by a second attacker trying to swing a big church bell at me.

It didn't work, and when it was down, I landed beside the cat sitting with my sword. He smiled at me and bowed to the crowd that had been captured. I hissed and grabbed his paw, hauling him after me, but before I could even more, my sharp ears tingled, meaning there was an oncoming danger. I looked up and gasped. The giant bell was heading straight toward me and the gato. I couldn't get him crushed, so I pushed him out of the way and let myself transform.

The crowd gaped when I let out a giant roar hauling the bell off me and creating a cloud of dust. I shook my body and soon shrank back to my human form, turning to the cat. he stood there gaping. I growled, grabbed him by his scarf, wrapped my cloak around him, and despaired.

We soon appeared on a hilltop away from the people and fans. I sat him down and started scolding him, "who do you think you are going around like that? you could've gotten yourself and thousand of lives killed!" the cat just shrugged me off. "Relax! I am Puss in Boots. I laughed at death." he said and grinned. I raised a brow and tugged at my cloak.

"And anyway, I am a cat. I have nine lives," he says. my eyes flare, swirling with fire "you STUPID gato!" I raor my claws unsheathing on my fingers. I grip the cat by his cuff and bare my fangs at him "not only did you endanger thousands of people, but you... " I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and eased the grip on his ginger fur.

"Puss... I care for you. I do. as you see, I'm not a human. I'm a shapeshifter and a dragon one at that. I-well, we dragons tend to bond with someone despite our differences. And you and I are bonded. Therefore I will not let you put your life and one of the last you have in jeopardy. I will stay by your side from now on," I said and patted his head, my claws unsheathing. "after all, you need a protector, little gato."

And once more, I'm gone in smoke, but this time, Puss knows where I am. I am around him I will never leave him fully.

Puss is in a bar, babbling about how he doesn't need a protector and is no lap cat.

"That doctor is a quack and a crazy man. He should stick to cutting hair." he then turns to the bartender, saying that this is his last chance to get something to drink. "Another glass of cream. Make it your heaviest," he answers. The bartender nods and walks back. Leaving Puss to his brooding. " "Retire." " he scoffs, glancing at his reflection on the clear mug. "You are too good-looking to retire."

Suddenly the sound of whistling pierces the air, and Puss stiffens. He turneth to his side to see a hooded stranger, a wolf by the smell. "Well, well. If it isn't Puss in Boots himself." the Wolf chuckles, revealing his red eyes. So where is Saphria when I need her? Puss think but shake it away.

No, he doesn't need a protector, even if she were pretty. "Uh, hey." Puss croaks. The Wolf survives him, the strange grin never leaving his face. "There's the famous hat, the feather, and, of course, the boots."

"My compliments to your cobbler." Puss frowns and sighs. Uh, good to meet you, too." he says before moving away. However, the Wolf doesn't give up nor seem faced by Puss's obvious neveruosty.

"Hey. I never do this, but can I get your autograph? Been following you for a long time." the Wolf says and takes out a wanted poster before tapping a claw on the "Dead" sign. Puss chuckles. "Puss in Boots laughs in the face of death, bounty hunter." the Wolf shrugs, turning to face his mug as he pours the beverage.

"You will find your reward does not come easily," Puss says, and the Wolf flicks his ear, hearing something. But he onset mind. "Everyone thinks they'll be the one to defeat me, but no one's escaped me yet," he says softly, eyes on the swirling drink.

" All right. Let's get it over with." Puss says and charges at the Wolf, who flicks his sword away.

Puss hiss, jumps down to his sword, and yanks it from the wooden thing.

He doesn't want to admit it but is starting to wonder who this guy is. And he somehow misses Saphria.

But I don't let him wait. in the shadows, I move like a shadow, myself. And by the time the Wolf blocks my gato's sword with two sickles, I let myself move and place my sword against his furry neck "try as you might, mutt, but that cat isn't for killing," I hiss out. The Wolf freezes and Puss yanks his sword free, his green eyes wide.

He hadn't heard me come.

The Wolf gulps for the first time in his life, feeling scared. He turned slowly, red eyes moving up my arm and my darkened face. Then, finally, he finds my two cesspools of glaring light back at him.

I give him a smirk when I smell his fear of him. "leave, and I will consider letting you have your head," I hiss, my fangs glittering in the dim light. A flick of my pointed ear catches teh sound of Puss, who is still standing there like a statue. "run, gato, I will be fine," I tell him harshly, and after a few minutes more, the cat stares at me but then grab his hat and runs out of there like a scared kitty.

I scoff but then move my sword off the stranger's neck. He unfreezes and stands, his long fluffy tail swishing from side to side, a nervous sign. "I never knew the cat has gotten himself a lackey," he says, voice devoid of emotion. I scoff again, my sword twirling in my hand. "I am no lackey; I'm a shapeshifter, protecting that cat. You do well to remember my wrath is nothing to play with. So leave him alone, or I will not be so merciful next time," and with a curl of my cloak, I'm gone leaving the Wolf in the bar staring at the spot I stood, a mark scorned into the ground.

The mark of a dragon. Of me, Saphria Brightscales.

The wolf shuders.
