Chapter 2- the news

I cooled off for a while. Then I looked at my phone. Charlie called! I called him back. He picked up the phone.
"Hey honey"
"Hey best boy in the universe" "Emerald I can hear the stress in your voice. Don't be nervous you'll do fine." "Charlie I'm not nervous about that, actually a little,but that's not why I'm stressed."
"What happened!" "I know it may sound silly"
"You know I will always listen"
"ok well me and Chip got in a argument."
"What you barley even fight!"
"I know. I don't know what has gotten into him."
"Maybe he's just stressed. He is moving in with your uncle." "Charlie." I cried for a while.
"Honey what's a matter"
"I can't let them take him away from me! He's the only one I really care about!"
"I know baby I know."
"Charlie I got to go but I love you."
"I know. I love you too. We will get through this together."
"Bye"
"bye" and I hung up the phone. I slept through the night and woke up the next morning because of the TV.
I went down stairs and saw mom. Her face was pale with fear. She turned and saw me. "Honey go back upstairs"
"Mom why are you so pale and why is the news on. You never watch the news."
"Honey I'm fine go back upstairs. Me and your father have to talk." I didn't even notice that he was there. His face had fear washed upon it. Dad never gets scared.
"Honey your mother and I need to talk. Everything is fine." I walked up the stairs but ducked down to where I could hear them talk but they couldn't see me. I heard the news say
"Mutants have overrun Waterburg."
We live outside of Waterburg!
"The government has evacuated the city, but we have heard that some of the Mutants have made it outside of the city. The government is trying to solve this problem."
I could feel my sweat going cold and my body turning pale. I heard mom whisper
"Hon what are we going to do!"
"I don't know, I don't know." I heard my dad say. I started to cry and my parents heard me. They turned around and I run up to my room. Mom came in.
"Hey sweety, can you take Chip and go to the grocery store in Towerville." "Sure mom." "Chip honey go with your sister to the store in town. I want you guys to buy 3 weeks worth of food." "Ok." We went to the store and got the food. Then we went past a tv store and the tvs were on the news Chanel.
When we walked by I saw something that would change my life forever.
