Lexi hated Ryan because he was a jerk. She had never been so grateful to hate someone, though. It made her feel powerful to be able to push him away and not let him get too close. But even as she pushed him away, something inside her loved him for it. It was a twisted love that both scared and drawn her in, but she couldn't deny it existed.
One day Lexi found herself looking at Ryan from across the room and couldn't help but feel a sense of calm wash over her when she saw his smile shine back at her. And although part of her still wanted to push him away, another part of her just wanted to melt into his arms and be happy...even though she knew it would only last for so long.
