Ashley's POV
"Wanna come over?" I receive this text from Grayson.
I've been wanting to see him too, so. "Yeah! Okay." I reply.
"Will be waiting." He replies.
With the widest smile on my face, I reply. "Sure."
I get out of my room and quickly rush to my parent's room. I knock and when I hear a 'come in', I enter. Immediately, their attention is drawn to me.
I go further and sit on their bed. "Dad, Mum, there's something I need to tell you."
"What's it pumpkin?" Dad asks lips in a tight line.
What was I even here to say?
Aha! I remember. To tell them about us, Grayson and I.
Okay, so time to say it? Right!
I part my lips, "I have a uh-m...."
"What?" Dad motions with his hands as he waits for me to answer whilst mum rather looks at me skeptically.
Boyfriend
Boyfriend
Boyfriend
"A Boyfriend," I master courage and utter.
Tick!
Dad smiles, "I know. It's that guy, what's his name again?"
Tock!
Is he thinking I mean a boy-friend? As in a male friend? I sigh when I realize that he's probably thinking what I think he's thinking. "Grayson. But Dad what I'm trying to say is that both of us, I mean, him and I, we're d...dati...ing?"
Mum nearly choked on whatever it was in her mouth, "You're in a relationship?" She asks and you could see from how her eyes nearly bulged out of their socket that she was shocked. Even that would be an understatement.
I nod my head slowly to answer her question, unable to voice out. From my peripheral, I could see Dad smile.
"You never really had male friends but now for all I know you have a boyfriend?" Mum's brow creases, clearly not taking this situation lightly.
I didn't get to answer because Dad's voice stopped me, "When was that?"
"A few weeks ago," I mutter.
"And you didn't tell me?" Dad asks.
"We were busy with the Christmas preparations and all. I'm sorry."
He nods his head in understanding.
"Dad. You're not angry or acting overprotective?"
He chuckles under his breath. "He's a good kid."
"That's all?" I furrow my brows at him and his eyes glint in amusement.
"What were you expecting to hear?"
I let out a nervous chuckle, "Uh... I don't know."
"By the way, he hasn't honored my invitation to come over for dinner yet. Do remind him."
"You invited him for dinner. When was that?" mum asks.
Dad turns to her, "Some time ago."
"How come you know this Grayson and I don't?"
"I guess I forgot to tell you, honey. Is it too late to do so?"
"Yeah, it is. And you, young lady." She points at me, "Why didn't you tell me of this so-called Grayson that I seem to know nothing of?"
