The sound of a train whistle boomed throughout
platform 9 3/4 as the twins, Maeve and James Potter, hurried through the crowd of witches and wizards."Hurry up, James, the train is going to leave us," Maeve shouted to her brother.
"I'm going, I'm going." James yelled back to his sister, trying to keep up with her.Maeve's smile stretched from ear to ear when she got her first good look at the Hogwarts Express. The scarlet steam engine was wondrous. This train was going to bring her to what would soon feel like a second home.
Pushing past a few more people before they finally reached one of the entrances to the train.
The twins stood there, excitement bubbling in their stomachs. They finally let it settle in. They were going to Hogwarts. It was going to be their first year there, and they couldn't wait.
Their heads turned toward each other with the biggest smiles on their faces.
"Ready James"
"Ready Maeve"They rushed forward, shoving each other, trying to get on the train first. After reaching the top first, Maeve's ears were filled with the sound of laughter and excitement. Gripping their trunks tightly, the twins began searching for a free compartment.
Finding one at the end of the corridor, James flung the sliding door open. Maeve slipped past him, holding her trunk above her head before putting it on the overhead baggage rack. James shut the door and then did the same.
James flopped down on one of the seats and let out a heavy sigh. Seemly somehow already tired.
Maeve put her hand in the front pocket of trousers and pulled out a dungbomb. A mischievous glint evdient on her face.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Oh hell yeah. How did you even get one?" James said, pricking up at the sight of the dungbomb.
"I borrowed it from dad's office." Maeve smirked. "Now, are we doing this or what?"The train steadily sped down its tracking heading towards Hogwarts, as the Potter twins stood on either side of a compartment labeled prefects.
"On the count of three, I'm going to open the door and toss the bomb in. Once the door is closed, we high tail it out of here, " Maeve whispered to James, who nodded his head in understanding.Maeve reached her hand out and grabbed the cool metal of the door knob. The door creaked as she opened it just enough for her to throw the bomb in. Looking at her brother one more time with a smirk, she tossed the dungbomb into the compartment and slammed the door shut.
Quickly turning on their heels, the twins ran to an open compartment just a little ways down the hall.
After making it to the compartment, Maeve and James let out quiet snickers before high-fiving. Shouts of disgust were heard from the other end of the hall. They peaked their heads out the door just in time to see 8 older students, already in their hogwarts robes, bursting out of the prefect's compartment. Some were holding their noses, and others were almost gagging. The smell that came from the dungbomb was horrendous.
The twins couldn't hold it in anymore. They burst into fits of laughter. Maeve was in tears and James was practically on the floor, they were laughing so hard.
This attracted the attention of the nearly green prefects. They stood there staring at the younger kids, who were losing it over what had happened.
Finally noticing the absence of groaning, Maeve and James stopped laughing and lifted their heads up to the older students, whose faces that were once olive green now resembled the color of strawberries
"Oh shit," James murmured, looking like a deer caught in headlights.
"Go, James, go, go, go!" Maeve said, pushing James in the opposite direction.Faint shouts of pissed off prefects were heard just a little ways behind the twins as they ran for their lives.
"James, what is that?" Maeve said, noticing him pull something out of his pocket.
"It's a smoke bomb. You're not the only one who took something from dad's office. You know, sometimes I really wonder why they took these things way from us." James responded with a smirk evident on his face."We're gonna get you little shits!" Said a red-faced prefect.
Maeve turned her head toward her brother, who was running on the right side of her.
"I almost forgot about them,"
"Yeah, me too," James said back to his sister before casually tossing the smoke bomb behind him.Red smoke filled the trains corridor, making it hard to see anything. The prefects stopped dead in their tracks, trying to figure out where the two kids went.
"Where'd they go?" Questioned one of the girls. She had straight strawberry blonde hair and wore a hufflepuff robe.
"Damn it!" Yelled a guy with dark hair and wearing a slytherin robe.Meanwhile, the twins continued running to their compartment, laughing. Seeing the door close, Maeve ran ahead of James and flung the door open. But their once empty compartment was not empty anymore. There were three other kids sitting on the leather seats, with shocked faces because of the girl who burst through the door.
Just before Maeve was going to introduce herself, James, who was not paying attention to where he was going, ran into her. They fell to the ground with a loud thud, James on top of Maeve.
Maeve's face was buried in the ground as she let out a pained groan. James, noticing the company, lifted his hand up to shake one of the boys' hands. While continuing to lay on top of Maeve.
"James Potter, nice to meet you,"
"Peter Pettigrew," said a boy who was sitting criss-cross-applesauce on the leather seat to the left of James. He had golden blonde hair and blue-gray eyes. His smile wided after James introduced himself, he was excited about actually making friends."James Potter, get off me!" Said an annoyed Maeve who was still stuck under her brother. A boy in the right corner of the room, who was sitting with his knees to his chest, let out light snickers at the girl. He had hair the color of milk chocolate and eyes to match. In his hands, he held a heavy book, which he was reading intently.
James scrambled to his feet before helping his sister off the ground.
"Sorry, Mae," James murmured
Maeve got off the ground and dusted off her sweater and brown baggy jeans.
"Maeve Potter, the sister of this bloody idiot," Maeve said, pointing to James, who then stuck his tongue out at her.
"Sirius Black," said a boy with charcoal black hair. He took her hand in his and kissed her knuckle.
"Real charmer, aren't you?" Maeve said sarcastically before laughing and taking her hand out of his. Sirius just continued to smile before turning his head toward the chocolate haired boy.
"I'm going to love her,""Remus Lupin," said the boy who Sirius was just talking to. Maeve scanned his face, noticing the scars that littered it. Being self-conscious, Remus buried his face back into his book. But Maeve thought his scars were beautiful.
"And your Peter, from what I heard before," said Maeve, turning her head toward the smiling blonde boy, who nodded his head in response."It's a pleasure to meet you all," James said in an over dramatic, fancy voice.
"And you as well," said Sirius in the voice as James.
The 5 kids in the compartment laughed at their antics. The twins took a seat next to Peter. Sirius then began questioning James on why they barged into the room like they did. James started telling everyone about putting the dungbomb into the prefect's compartment and the smoke bomb. But Maeve stayed silent as she looked out the train window. She couldn't stop smiling. This was going to be the best 7 years of her life.
