Hai Hai, Oka here to explain my differences about this story and Echotale! For one, Frisk is a child in this series and looks like how she normally do and I will mostly refer to her as she just cause it will make it easier for me and I did in the past. No one seemed to mind so I will continue to do so! As for Sans and papyrus, I have them both fused with Gaster. Much like how they did in the comic but Papyrus was there too and all three was affected because Gaster grabbed the both of them. G!Sans will look like how he did in the comic(picture below for reference), and mostly for the same reason as he did in the comic which was Frisk had expressed how cool the character on the cover of a manga and he agreed as well (and it was the last thing he saw before the explosion). Papyrus looks similar because Sans had main control of thought at the time and a lot of the fan drawings I've seen he looks familiar as well.
How they got free from the Underground is from the explosion, the determination shattering the barrier. The brothers were the only casualty along with alphys having a few scrapes from the debris.
