Chapter 8

"I can't believe the twins aren't having a party this year." Hope says as she and Adoni watch a movie in Adoni's room.

"Why's that?" Adoni asks busy texting Josie, her and Lizzie have been locked inside their room since Caroline told them about the merge.

Hope laughs, "I forget this is your first year here. They go all out usually, like last year was a while ass ball."

"It was their sweet sixteen." Adoni mumbles trying to decide if it's needed to text her girlfriend that she misses her when she's literally across the hall.

"Just go see her." Hope rolls her eyes, noticing she's distracted.

Adoni pouts, "she asked for space."

"She's texting you constantly, just go over there."

Adoni shakes her head, "she said she needed time with Lizzie."

Hope rolls her eyes again before pulling out her own phone. And asking Lizzie if she can bring over ice cream and talk. "There, Lizzie's busy. Now go."

Before Adoni can get up there's a knock at the door. Hope gets up with a self-satisfied smirk as she opens the door to a nervous looking Josie.

"Bye guys." Hope sing songs as Josie shuts the door behind her.

"Hi" Josie offers with a sweet smile.

"Hi," Adoni returns the greeting.

As if a powder keg blew Josie moves to the bed crawling on top of Adoni and devouring her lips in an intense kiss.

"Gods, I missed you." Adoni whispers against her lips.

"Ditto" Josie quickly replies before closing the distance between them again. Adoni lets Josie lead them in a gradually heating kiss until Josie's hands start to slide up Adoni's shirt and she pulls away.

"Are you okay?" She asks already knowing the answer but needing Josie to open up.

The siphoner just shakes her head, "distract me." She whispers before nipping at Adoni's lip. The witch doesn't need to be told twice.

As Adoni lays in the afterglow, a sleeping Josie beside her, she knows she needs a plan. One that didn't didn't involve endangering her girlfriend, best friend, or brother which means something drastic, something probably stupid, and something she'll definitely regret.

She was going back on the run. But first, she needed to wipe their memories, replace them with bare minimum, leave Josie with something maybe a little more special and for that she needed... a lot of dark magic.

She's been digging through the school archive room daily for every dark magical item she could find and with the new acquisition of what looks like some type of ascendant she thought she might have just enough.

She left the finishing touches of her plan under Raf's bed, a memory box for Hope with all her keepsakes because she knows they'll be safe with the tribred, a letter and pictures for Josie, and a list of instructions on how to contact her when it's safe and how he'll know when to do so, before she goes to knock on Josie's door.

"Hey baby, you're late." Josie teases

"I'm sorry gorgeous. Just I had take care of something."

"No worries, we're just watching a movie right?" Josie asks with a smile.

Adoni nods, doing her best to keep the sadness out of her smile. Cuddling up close as Josie starts the movie on her lap tap.

She lasts ten minutes before doubts and questions start talking over her mind. As if Josie can tell she pulls the arm Adoni has wrapped around her waist tighter over her body.
