"It'll be fun, I swear!" Ian called as he revved the engine to his brand spanking-new Harley Davidson motorcycle that he had already deemed "Molly". The cherry red paint coating the metal promised adventure, possibly danger, and that positively frightened Anthony.
"There's no way in hell that I'm getting on that thing!" Anthony replied with disdain. Ian would never listen; he would persist until Anthony eventually caved, so it was only a matter of time before he climbed aboard the beast. But, he would at least put up a fight.
"Come on... Anthony, if you don't try something new every once in a while, you're never gonna live life to the fullest!" Clearly, Ian had his eyes on the prize.
"Ian, you're starting to sound like one of those twelve year-olds whose motto's YOLO," Anthony pointed out. It wasn't that he completely despised the idea of YOLO, but the way that people were using it. It was like an excuse to do stupid shit; for example, to take a spin on a crimson nightmare.
Shrugging, Ian said, "Is YOLO really all that bad?" Again, he revved the engine, which renewed the sick feeling in the pit of Anthony's stomach. It reminded Anthony of the first time he had shot a shotgun; a 4-10, to be exact. He had been terrified of the approaching bang of the bullet being released from its shell, the kick of the gun, but more so of the fear that he wouldn't be brave enough to pull the trigger. The fear had spurred him to fire the weapon, and he swore that he had never felt so utterly relieved in his life.
Pursing his lips, Anthony admitted, "I guess not..." The concept was actually beginning to seem quite pleasing... He needed to prove that he was strong enough to not chicken out on a measly ride with his best friend. Years from then, he wanted to be able to tell his grandkids that, yes, he had boarded the most terrifying vehicle that he had ever come in contact with.
Unexpectedly, Ian kicked out the kickstand and hopped off the motorcycle, helmet in hand. He used his free gloved hand to comfort Anthony by wrapping it around his shoulders, giving him a slight squeeze.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Anthony asked, voice meeker than he liked.
"I would never let Molly hurt you," Ian confirmed, making Anthony feel a little better. At least his friend had good intentions...
Ian tossed the helmet cradled in his arms to Anthony after removing his arm from around Anthony's neck. Anthony could feel the absence of heat already, and his nerves spiked once more as he slipped the black garment of protection over his eyes. Everything looked much shadier from underneath the helmet, similar to the way the world seemed when observed through sunglasses.
Anthony looked to Ian only to see that he, too, was shielded by a helmet. However, his helmet was steel grey, and Anthony couldn't help but feel resentful that the helmet covered his beautiful face. Anthony raised an eyebrow the thought, and shook himself. That YOLO shit was already getting to his head...
Straddling the motorcycle, Ian patted the seat behind him, and Anthony immediately felt his face flush. He had completely forgotten what position riding the motorcycle with another man would put him in, but he had already gotten Ian's hopes up, so who was he to refuse the offer?
Following Ian's gesture, Anthony swung one leg over the vehicle and sat down. It was actually very comfortable, considering how badass the machine appeared. Ian revved the engine for a third time, kicking out the kickstand and balancing the two by putting his own feet on the ground. However, when Ian didn't immediately start driving off, Anthony realized what Ian was waiting for.
"Uh... Sorry, I forgot," Anthony lied, voice muffled through his helmet to the point where he wasn't certain that Ian had even heard him. Truth be told, the scariest thing about the entire ride was going to be holding onto Ian and controlling himself. For a while now, he had honestly admitted to himself that Ian was definitely attractive, but had always made up an excuse afterwards, simply out of spite. Anthony knew he had trouble accepting his own true emotions, and this case was no different than any other time he had accidentally referred to Ian as "cute" or "easy on the eyes".
