It had been two years since little acts of kindness were done for me. I tried my best to always be kind to everyone else. Ever since Malfoy took my book we never spoke; he dropped notes off to my dorm and poof our friendship was gone. After a while, that year I would always catch him staring at me, but when the second year started, I was invisible to him. I had seen him snogging that cow Pansy Parkinson and I wanted to reach out to Draco; I had not though. Being the kindest Slytherin was hard for me, at times I really felt like drowning. I felt like the weight of being a half-blood in the house considered to be evil told me something that could or could not be true. And when it became too much, I felt like nobody was there for me. Yes, sure I have Ron, Harry, Hermione, the twins, and Cedric. They all claim I can tell them anything and everything, but can I really? I just cannot handle losing any more people because I was a burden with my stuff. Let me say being the nicest person can be tough.
'Gather 'round. Find yerself a spot.' Hagrid paused nervously; I could tell he did not know what to do. 'That's it. Now, firs' thing yeh'll want ter do is open up yer books--'
He was so rudely interrupted by a fellow Slytherin, blond and tall. God, he was tall. He obviously grew over the summer. 'And exactly how do we do that?' he asked with a scoff. I know he is rude, but he was right, every time we try to open the book its tries to attack us.
'Crikey. Didn' yeh know? All yeh've got ter do is stroke 'em look--' Hagrid takes Hermione's copy, snaps the Spellotape binding it. As it begins to bite, Hagrid calmly runs a forefinger down the spine of the book. And it quietly falls open. He then glances around the class suddenly looking unsure and nervous again.
'Righ' then so yeh got the books......now yer gonna need the magical creatures' He then nervously shuffles away to do something.
Draco then scoffed with a head shake, talking loudly to Crabbe and Goyle 'God, this place has gone to the dogs, just wait until my father hears that Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes.' he laughed.
I scoffed at his words and opened my mouth to say something, but I was interrupted by a dark-haired Gryffindor, 'Listen you stupid prat--'
Malfoy cut him off with a scared look on his face, he pointed behind Harry, 'D-dementor, potter dementor, dementor!' Harry jumps in fear and turns to find nothing. His face reddened and Hermione grabbed him by the shirt to pull him away from Malfoy, who was now cackling
Then a strange looking beast appeared from the forest Hagrid behind it. It was large and Hagrid was shooing it along. It was tall, feathery, and it embodied a horse with the stature of a bird. 'Beau'iful isn' he? Good ol' Buckbeak.' someone then asked what he was.
'A Hippogriff, o' course. Now, firs' thing yeh gotta know is they're proud. Easily offended, Hippogriffs are. Don't never insult one, 'cause it migh' be the las' thing yeh do. Right then -- who wants ter come an say hello?' The whole class stepped back, leaving Harry in front. Hagrid said a few words to Harry, and he interacted with Buckbeak.
'Look at that! I reckon he migh' let yeh ride 'im' Hagrid grinned proudly at Harry. Harry stepped back, 'Excuse me?' Hagrid picked Harry up and placed him on Buckbeak. Before Harry could prepare, Hagrid slaps Buckbeak's hindquarters, and they go off flying.
Draco scoffs at the situation and mumbles to his friends about something, and soon enough Harry comes back. Harry got off Buckbeak with a thump. 'Well done 'arry!' Hagrid beamed proudly Harry grinned and replied 'That was brilliant professor'
Draco scoffed again and shoved past everyone, almost making me fall over. I let out a sound of annoyance and mumbled something under my breath. He proudly strides over towards Buckbeak. 'Give me a go at that thing. If Potter can do it, it must be easy. You're not dangerous at all you, are you, you big ugly brute--'
Hagrid cut him off 'Malfoy no!' In a flash, Buckbeak's steely talons slash down. Malfoy freezes. Looks down at the blood on his robes and shrieks 'It's killed me, it's killed me!' I ran over to him dropping my things aside. 'Hagrid, he needs to go to the infirmary! I can take his things if you'd like me to.'
'Yeh, yeh do that.' Hagrid agreed. I could tell a lot was going through the poor man's mind, knowing Draco would complain to his good old daddy and Hagrid could lose this job. I grabbed Draco's and my things as Hagrid picked Malfoy up. We headed up to the infirmary.

I spent the rest of my classes looking after Malfoy in the infirmary. I was sitting in a chair beside his bed reading a book as he slept. I had never seen him like this before. He looked so pure and sweet, I rolled my eyes at the sight and pushed his hair out of his face "Only if you were like this when you were awake" I slowly pulled away and sighed and continued reading my book. Madam Pomfrey wrapped his arm in medical wrap and told me that he won't be able to use it a lot and he'll need to rest it more than use it. He can still write hell just need to take breaks. Overall, he was fine, he didn't break anything.
Around thirty minutes later he started to wake up, I put my book down and went to get water for both of us. I had gotten my friends to take notes in all the classes we missed. Most of his friends came to see him and got him sweets and stuff.
I heard him shifting around some, "Y/N..?" He looked at me with a confused expression forming on his face. "Why are you here...?"
I placed his water on the table beside the bed and sat next to him. "I'm here because I was the only one who actually seemed to care that you got hurt." I shifted in my seat "Even though the way you got hurt was your fault, you should've listened to Hagrid. He said hippogriffs are easily offended---" I was rambling, and he cut me off.
Draco cut me off, "Since when do you care about my wellbeing?"
