As I tiptoed around the corner to his room the first thing I noticed was the rattling of his breathing. The sight that befell me made me stop in my tracks, my king was laid almost lifeless, a Skelton form very different from the man that had saved me and taken me into his home all those years ago.
With teary eyes I ventured further, with the determination of making things right for him. I owed him, my lord a lot but I also was aware of how risky this was, I had hidden it so well for so many years but here now I could use it for something good. To make sure the king saw his England. To make sure he could do so much more in his life.
' It will be hard, child.' my guardian said to me. A distant voice called behind the veil guiding me to this very moment.
I took a deep breath to calm my nerves and stood over the king. He didn't acknowledge I was there, to far away, his soul ready to leave his mangled body. I placed my hand over his torso and closed my eyes. I could see how inflamed his inside were, each bit I would have to dime to make him better.
'This will take a lot out of you, child are you sure?" My guardian whispered as I felt him grab my other hand."Yes." I said firmly as the magick between me and my god began to work on the king. I could feel it my life force working hard to make him better. I had to. I was determined to save his life. I pictured it in my mind as the black vapor of illness pulled away from my king. I felt it as it entered my system infecting every cell of my body. I stumbled a little losing balance as my blue eyes opened. I looked down at the king. His face no longer hollow.
I watched as the colour slowly return to his cheeks and his breathing wasn't as rattled. I reached out with my hand to lightly graze across his check.
"What are you doing in here!" My head snapping up at the tone of the kings wife. My heart beating faster at the fear I suddenly felt. I was suppose to be in and out, no witnesses. I didn't want the credit for this. I was fine with my King's God to take the glory for that.
I watched as Aelswith moved closer to the bed as I took a step back now realising how bad I felt. My inside hurt and I needed to get the black illness out of my system. Aelswith hand ghosted over the kings face as I had just done mer seconds before. She looked shocked at his healthy appearance.
Her head snapping up to me. I could see tears in her eyes as her eyes met mine.
'Did you do this? What did you do?" She asked, her voice full of emotions. My guardian reaching down to grab at my hand, I could feel him rubbing his fingers against it. 'Lie' he spoke behind me. But I couldn't, I knew lying would damed my soul.
" I saved him." I spoke strongly. Embracing the punishment that was sure to follow for this.
