chapter 1
New kid... :D
Aila sighed as she looked at the steps to her new school.
Moving sucked.
She swung her Skeleanimal bag over her shoulder, and trudged up the concrete stairs, ignoring the stares from other students.
She was the new girl, she didn't expect any different.
Especially due to her dress code.
Aila was dressed in her favourite black converse, with the white parts scribbled on with sharpie, black skinny jeans, and a grey patterned shirt with a long-sleeved back skivvy underneath. She glanced down at the 'good luck ;)' her best friend from her previous school had written across the toes of her shoes, and smiled.
Aila ran up the remaining stairs, jumping on the last one, grinning to herself. Passersby chuckled at her child-like behaviour.
She took out one of her earphones, just in case anyone spoke. It was highly unlikely, but Aila would rather respond with 'yeah, I'm the new chick', rather than 'GOD HAS SPOKEN THROUGH HIS CONSCIOUS, AS I SCREAM AIM AND FIRE, THE DEATH TOLL GROWS HIGHER!!'
She hummed to herself as she walked through the corridors, hands in pockets, grinning. She had no idea where she was going; she was just following the signs that said ‘main office’. Alia assumed that they would lead her to the main office. Shock, horror!
People stared at her strange behaviour, but Aila was used to it. She reached the main office soon enough, and entered swiftly, jumping slightly at the horrible high-pitched bell that tinkled as she swung the door open.
An elderly woman with lipstick on her teeth smiled warmly at Aila as she approached the reception desk. Well, Aila assumed it was supposed to be warmly; it looked paedophile-ish to her personally.
“Haii, I’m Aila Rose? I’m the new kid.”
Yes, that is how she said, and spelt hi.
The woman nodded. “Welcome to Drakehurst high Aila, I’m Mrs. Jessop, this is your timetable.” Aila glanced down at the slip of paper she was given. The first thing she saw was gym, fifth period.
“Ew, gym, take it back!” She cried. Mrs. Jessop chuckled. “It’s a necessity to stay fit and healthy Aila.”
Fit and healthy my arse, Aila thought.
“Now your timetable has two different weeks, expanding the range of subjects. You must get this slip signed before each class today, and bring it back at the end of the day.” Mrs. Jessop handed Aila two more slips of paper as she said this, “the final piece of paper is your locker number and combination. It’s best not to forget this.”
Aila grinned, and took all these sheets. “Thank you!” She squealed, bouncing out of the room. She quickly looked around looking for a sign that would lead her to her locker.
Another floor up, Aila thought, jogging up the stairs. She giggled quietly as High School Never Ends by Bowling for Soup came on her iPod.
She walked in the beat, spinning around trying to take everything in. She laughed as she noted the stereotypes the song mentioned. The second floor seemed to be the floor where all her classes were, except gym, biology and chemistry, which were downstairs. Her locker was here somewhere too.
“Oh gosh, not another emo,” someone scoffed. Aila whirled around, and came face-to-face with a tall blonde girl in a halter top and denim miniskirt.
“AHH! DENIM SKIRT!” Aila shouted, shielding her eyes, “TAKE IT AWAY!”
Denim skirts were so 90’s!
The blonde’s cheeks flushed, eyes narrowing. People surrounding her chuckled, but shut up as her gaze met theirs.
Queen bee, Aila assumed.
“What’s your name?” The blonde snapped. Aila drew herself up, and put her hand out. “Aila Rose, what’s yours?”
The blonde slapped her hand away. “Or you could ignore pleasantries, that’s cool too,” Aila muttered. The blonde sneered. “My name is Anne Lill, and I rule this school.”
“The blonde can rhyme!” I clapped, “but she can’t dress. Seriously, denim? Change please!”
And with that, Aila turned and searched for her locker, grinning at the chuckles.
She’d made enemies with the head bitch, and school hadn’t even started yet!
Yes, another story :)
