Neytiri looked onward into the hut where her mother sat in front of her daughter. Patching up her deep wounds as she sat there grimacing and hissing ever so slightly from time to time.

"hss...nng...must you use that remedy, grandmother? I'd much rather prefer yalnabark." Sylwanin hissed out.

"Yes, that's what I would use." Kiri chimed in as she prepared the other herbs for her grandmother.

"Oh, you would? And who is Tsahik?" Mo'at said plainly back to Kiri.

"You are grandm- Move... You are grandmother, but yalnabark is better. It stings less." Kiri spoke as she moved Lo'ak to the side. Sylwanin simply made a gesture as a sign of agreement.

Neytiri continued to look upon the sight as she stood outside the hut with her mate, Jake. Jake continued to fix up on the gun he was carrying as he sat on the ground. He turned to look at Neytiri and noticed her dejected look.

"What?" Jake asked as he gave her a glance before returning to unscrewing some of the attachments on the rifle.

"Sylwanin, Neteyam, and Lo'ak try to live up to you...it is very hard on them," Neytiri said.

"I know," Jake spoke, all the while keeping his gaze focused on his task.

Neytiri turned around to glance away from the kids to come toward her mate. She crouched down by his side to look directly at him.

"You are very hard on them."

Jake looked up at Neytiri while clicking the rifle into place. "I'm their father. That's my job."

"This is not a squad. This is a family." Neytiri spoke more softly.

Jake finally allowed his military persona to fall as he sighed and looked down towards the ground. His eyes got glossier before looking back up at Neytiri.

".......I thought we had lost them"

Neytiri looked at her mate before placing a hand on his arm lovingly.

(Sylwanin Pov)

It's been a few days since the mission and my wounds somewhat healed over. Grandmother tells me to take it easy so that I don't split them back open.

In the meanwhile, I've been tasked with watching over my younger siblings while my parents go out on watch for any more sky people. Neteyam went with them. I would've been the one to go but I volunteered to watch over my siblings in my brother's stead so that he can regain my parent's trust when it came to missions. But no one ever told me how hard watching over these skxawngs would be!

Outside the hut, I could hear Lo'ak talking about wanting to go explore the old war grounds far off into the forest, the exact spot where father forbid any of us to go.

"You skxawng. Don't you know when to quit it? You're not going to the war grounds. Not while I'm in charge, and besides, didn't dad ground you for the last stunt you pulled? If he finds out you disobeyed him again, he's going to REALLY tear into you this time." I said while taking my eyes away from the basket I was weaving to yell in his direction.

"Ugh...It's fine! No need to be so uptight all the time big sis. You sound like dad. It's fine as long as he doesn't find out. I'm going so you can either come along or stay behind, your choice." Lo'ak said back at me.

Kiri could be seen getting up to go along with him, alongside Spider. Spider looked at me like he wanted to say something but knew better than to challenge my authority, especially at times like this...and since I didn't like him all that much and he sensed that. The only reason why Lo'ak got away with it, is because I could see deep down that Lo'ak's intentions were only to prove himself. I could relate deeply to him. I still felt the pain in my heart from being told off by my father. I could only imagine what it's like for Lo'ak. It isn't every day that he gets praise from him.
