Damon rolls over in bed and quickly realizes it is morning. He fell asleep. He looks for Madeline in the bed beside him. She is nowhere to be seen. The bed is made. It is as if no one slept here last night but him.
This causes Damon to panic. He begins looking everywhere for her while he spirals thinking of all the possibilities as to what happened last night after he unknowingly fell asleep.
Was she kidnapped? Taken somewhere to be brutally murdered? Who has her?
Or did she maybe die in her sleep because he was not watching her carefully enough and woke up as a vampire, being instantly turned to ash when the sun rose?
Perhaps she woke up, saw the situation she was in, went home, and called the police on him. They are probably on their way here as he thinks.
Or none of them. Damon finds her in the kitchen over the stove.
She turns around once she heard him enter. "Oh, good morning!" She smiles and turns back to the stove.
"Uh," Damon scratches his head. "Morning." He doesn't know how to broach the subject of last night. He decides to just go for it and see where things go. If it starts to go badly, he will figure something out on the spot. "Do you uh, do you remember what happened last night."
Madeline smiles and turns around to face him. "Relax, Damon. It's not the first time I've woken up in someone else's bed."
"No," Damon shakes his head. "No," he is at a loss for words. This is somehow worse than he could have imagined it would go.
Madeline laughs. "Damon, it's okay." She grabs his arm. "You were very clearly over the covers and practically falling off the bed you were so far from me." She shakes her head, laughing at the panic still written on his face. "Don't worry about it. I'm not." She shrugs and turns back to the stove. "Stefan said we got a little crazy and drank too much last night so I slept here. He said they are all a little hungover,"
Damon laughs. Vampires don't really get hungover...
"Well I woke up feeling pretty good so I decided I would make breakfast to help with off of their hangovers." She flips a pancake onto a plate behind her. "How are you feeling?"
Damon smiles at the pancake on the plate. He loves pancakes. Ever since he and Bonnie were stuck in the prison world, he has had a newfound appreciation for them. He would never admit that out loud though.
There is no way Madeline would know he loves them but seeing her make pancakes brings something special out. The sound of spatulas flipping pancakes, the smell of sizzling butter in the air. It brings out a sense of nostalgia for him.
"Uh, good. I'm feeling good." He takes the plate and slides it over to a seat. Damon smiles and picks apart the pancake with his fingers, shoving tiny bits into his mouth.
Stefan enters the kitchen and finds his brother has finally risen from his bed.
"How's the hangover?" Damon asks, smirking as he shoved another piece of pancake in his mouth.
Stefan holds his head. "Shh, not so loud." He smirks and shakes his head, grabbing a pancake. "Thanks, Madeline."
Bonnie enters. Damon rolls his eyes. This house is always a revolving door for new people to come in and out of. He can never guess who is going to come through the doors at any moment.
Bonnie looks at the stack of freshly made pancakes. She looks at Damon with a puzzled look on her face. "Whose idea was this?"
"Mine!" Madeline grins, finishing up. She is glad her breakfast is so popular.
Bonnie smiles. "I love pancakes." She grabs a plate and starts loading it up.
"So does Damon. Look at how he's devouring that thing." Madeline smiles, motioning to Damon who is already on his third victim.
