The next day, I trudged into a new advanced Science class. I had had to get everything switched around for the new semester, so I had to change my science class even though it wasn't an elective.

Repeating the routine from the other day, I made my way to the class and scanned the room for seats.

I was afraid that I was going to sit in a seat already taken by a student, so I asked the teacher which seats were open.

"Oh," the teacher said, scanning the seating chart on her desktop computer, "There's an open seat over there by the window, next to Namjoon."

I sat down where she had told me to, then waited for the other students to come in. I was the first one in the class, so I had to wait a while.

Admittedly, I was a bit nervous to be in a new class. Science was a good subject for me, I had always been good at it and did well in it. However, sometimes I got nervous to be in an advanced class. Most of the other kids in class were older and I didn't know them well. My last class had had most of the other Sophomores, but I knew this one wouldn't.

Other kids trickled in. A few of them seemed to notice me, but most of them didn't seem to care that I was there. That was something I was used to.

Finally, right before the bell rang, a boy who must have been Namjoon walked in. As the bell sounded, he walked leisurely to his seat next to me. He seemed to notice me, but he didn't say anything. I wondered if he was curious as to why I was there.

I figured that I should be friendly, "Hi," I said.

He turned to look at me. I immediately noticed his cool demeanor, "Hey, are you new?" He said.

"Well, sort of," I replied, "I just got switched into this class."

"Are you a Sophomore?" He asked.

"Yes," I replied. I wondered if I looked immature.

"Are you good at science?" He asked.

I didn't want to brag or anything, "Sort of...I guess."

He didn't ask anything else, but I wanted to keep talking. I was surprised he had asked me questions, and he seemed like someone you would want to talk to.

"What's your name?" I asked, even though I already knew.

"Kim Namjoon," He answered, "You?"

"Bree Clark," I said, following his model of including the last name as well.

The teacher started class and we were assigned a lab. I was presently surprised to find that this class was pretty much identical to my previous one. We had to do a lab and a worksheet, and Namjoon and I were partners. He was pretty good at science too and we worked well together.

During the labs, we started talking, and I started to ask him about his music taste.

"What music do you like?" I asked.

He spoke as he wrote down data on his sheet, "I listen to hip hop," I said.

"Oh? I do too," I said.

He looked up, "What artists?"

I shrugged, "I dunno, a lot."

We continued talking, and figured out we listened to a lot of the same ones.

"I haven't met many people at our school who listen to hip hop," I said, after we had been talking for a while, "What do you like about hip hop?"

"I think it's just good music, personally. It's the only thing I can listen to when I'm really sad. I can't explain it very well."

"Yeah, I know what you mean."

Soon class was over.

"Bye Namjoon," I said, "Nice to meet you."

"Yeah, nice meeting you, see you."

The bell rang and we both filed out of class, into separate directions, falling into the endless, loud flow of passing period.
