Grayson ~

It didn't take long for Grayson and Emma to grab a quick change of clothes before heading over to Declan's house.

"Was it really nothing to worry about or were you pulling a Caleb?" Grayson asked, taking his eyes off the road for a split second so he could study Emma's expression.

She arched a brow at Grayson and turned her body to face him.

"Pulling a Caleb?" She asked in confusion.

"Yeah. You know. Caleb is notorious for downplaying a medical emergency to try to keep everyone calm. Hell, he'd call a severed limb a little scratch if it meant the lie would keep all parties involved calm."

Emma smiled at Grayson's explanation and nodded her head as if she could easily picture that in her mind.

"So which one was it?"

Emma gave Grayson and endearing look from the passenger seat and let her hand rest on top of his.

"I didn't pull a Caleb. I pulled an Emma and told the truth." She said with a smile.

"Dec was terrified." There was a lump in Grayson's throat as he said the words, knowing exactly why Declan and Lexi were so scared.

"I know. Unfortunately every pull and pain at every stage is going to be scary for them. The important thing is for Lexi to stay calm."

"And if Dec is calm, Lexi will be calm." Grayson added.

The porch lights were already on and Declan opened the door before they reached it, having watched them pull up on his security cameras.

"Thanks for comin' I feel stupid for asking, but I really appreciate it." Declan said nervously, clearly rattled by Lexi's pains.

"Nothing stupid about peace of mind." Emma said with a smile that was both calming and genuine.

"You know where the guest room is Gray." Declan said, tilting his head to the right as he gave Grayson a grateful slap on the back.

Taking Emma's bag off of her shoulder, Grayson kissed the side of her head before he dropped their bags off in the guest bedroom.

"Where's Lex?" Emma asked as her eyes darted around the living room.

"She's laying down in our bed watching a movie."

Declan shifted uncomfortably on his feet with his brows drawn in as he spoke to Emma. Everything about his body language communicated one thing - fear.

Picking up on his uneasiness immediately, Emma gave Declan a sweet smile, one that Grayson had come to love as she gently placed her hand on Declan's arm.

"She's okay. You know that right?" Emma soothed.

"Mmmhmm." Declan mumbled, agreeing without changing his demeanor.

"Will you sit and talk with me for a minute?"

Worry flashed across Declan's face and he immediately moved toward the couch, obviously expecting Emma to deliver some sort of bad news.

"What's up?"

Easy Boss, you gotta calm down.

"What happened to Lexi tonight is completely normal. It's just her ligaments stretching past their normal capacity in order to make room for baby." Emma's voice was so calm.

"Yeah. I understand."

Declan nodded his head and his leg started to bounce with nervous energy that Grayson wasn't used to seeing. The team leader was calm and collected in almost every situation...every situation that didn't involve Lexi.
