Brie is Stefan's best friend and first love. They met a few years after Stefan turned and they have been best friends ever since. Stefan declared his love for her when she returned to Mystic Falls before he met Elena but she denied his love for her as she didn't want to ruin their friendship even though she felt the same.
She left Mystic Falls not long after Stefan agreed to leave with Klaus. Now that Stefan is back in Mystic Falls with his humanity shut off, Damon calls her to come back as she was the only one he could think of that could help turn it back on.
