It was just any other school day. I got up, and got dressed into my usual ripped jeans and my usual black hoodie. I went downstairs and got some breakfast and started off towards my bus stop. I get to the bus stop, and my friend Cassie is there in her usually red hat with her black hair in a ponytail stuffed through her cap, her usual camo pants, and white t-shirt, with a sweater wrapped around her waist.

"Hey Jackson!" Cassie said to me.

"Hey Cas, how's your morning so far?" I ask her.

"It's been overall pretty normal. How has yours been?" Cassie turns the question back on me.

"Same here." I replied, "anyways, do you have that project for English done? I'm so close to finishing it, and I know it's due today."

"Wait, hold on, there was a project?" She asked, confused.

"Yes there was a project."

"Shoot."

"Cas, how did you not know there was a project? Mr. Davis literally reminded us every day last week." I told her, facepalming.

"Ok well, I just wasn't paying attention." She argued back.

"Like always." I said under my breath. By then, our bus had already arrived and we got on and started the journey to school. I probably should introduce myself though, I'm Jackson Fox, I have brown hair, blue eyes, I love taking care of people, and Cassie has been my best friend since 1st grade. My life has gotten a little crazy since this conversation, but first, let's do the events leading up to it.

"I am SO not looking forward to this school day" Cassie complained

"Well maybe if you did your project, then you wouldn't be dreading this." I told her

"It's not just that, it's just.." she trailed off, "It's nothing."

"You sure?" I asked, "are you ok?"

"Yeah I'm doing fine, let's just put our stuff into our lockers and head to class." She said and walked away.

"ok.." I said and followed her after a couple of seconds. I didn't have a whole lot of time to dwell over the fact that Cassie was being weird. I had my own problems to worry about. For one, my mom wasn't here this morning, which is a pretty normal occurrence, but usually when she isn't there she is out getting ready to bring some random guy home. Also, our bus got here late and the bell just rang.

Wait, the bell rang?!

DING DING DING

Shoot! The bell rang!

I run to my locker as the morning announcements begin.

"Good morning! Today's announcements are...."

I hate the announcements. They bore me. I put my backpack in my locker and grab my school stuff and start walking toward class. I pass Cassie putting all of her stuff in her locker.

Ah what the heck.

I walk up to Cassie.

"Hey Cas, sorry about earlier..." I say as I lean up against the locker right next to her.

"It's alright, I shouldn't have walked away like that." Cas replied, "shouldn't you be getting to class?"

"I'm already late, why not make it more late?" I said

"I swear our bus arrives late everyday."

"Dude, I know! We have to wait out in the freezing cold for an extra 10 minutes, and then we're late to class! It's so stupid." I ranted.

"Yes! Half the time I don't have a clean sweater, so I have to go out in just my t-shirt and it sucks, and it's cold, and I hate it." Cas ranted back.

"...And that's all the announcements for today! Have a good day." The principal finished the announcements.

"Well, I probably should head to class before I'm late anymore, I definitely can't afford to get detention." I said, standing straight up, "seeya at lunch Cas." I walked away after that.

"Bye Jackson!" Cas called after me. Cas has been my best friend for years, we met in first grade when she mistook me for another kid and beat me up on the playground. We have been friends since then, I hope I didn't upset her too much...

I walk into class and get yelled at by the teacher about being late.

"You know I don't accept being late, Jackson!" Ms. Meyers yelled at me.

"I know, my bus got here late, and I still had to put my stuff in my locker, so I really didn't have enough time to get here on time." I said, trying to sound like I cared.

"Well, I'll have to write you a detention for that! See me after school to serve your detention time!" She yelled while filling out a detention slip. She tore it off and gave it to me. I took it and started heading back to my seat.

"You know I don't accept being late, Jackson!" I mocked her under my breath, "I hate this teacher so much." I mumbled.

"Anyways before I was so rudely interrupted..." I didn't listen to much after that, for that really didn't put me in the mood to learn.

~~~
The bell rang and I immediately got up from my seat and headed out.
"Don't forget about that detention, Jackson!" She yelled at me as I walked out.
"Yeah yeah, I remember." I mumbled as I walked out.  I went to the next couple of periods, and then finally went to lunch.
