my building faces east

so i miss the evening sunset

but if it's a nice one

a warm light reflects

off the large windows

and orange brick facade

of the west facing luxury condos

across the street

for a moment my tiny apartment

is filled with a flattering glow

that makes it seem to have secret rooms

i'm discovering for the first time

if the sunset is particularly beautiful

the condominium residents

step onto their balconies

taking selfies with their backs turned

to all of it and me at the same time

when the magic hour ends

we all smoke a few cigarettes in the dark

our burning cherries remind us

that we've all seen each other naked

at one point or another
